PvP officially a lost cause

Bro I’ve been complaining bout shower and gravity well for the longest time… I cannot stand roots… the fact they added the rooting ult too just makes it so unbearable. The changes to stam and light armor just amplify this issue ten fold… you factor in desync where you are clearly out of a gravity well and your still getting pulled… you get staggered outside a gwell and you magically pulled all the way in and finally rooted once again… get roots out of the game…

Hatchets and greatswords way worse… but the combination of muskets and bows sitting back paired with this melee meta is just unplayable… constant staggered, slows, roots. Not fun at all

They gave up… you can tell by the road map… infistrsting cause all they have to do is balance out pvp and tiddy up some issues which I don’t think is that difficult…

Mages are very strong but i couldn’t imagine playing them in this melee meta. I definitely don’t see as many mages but when I do them throwing storms on top of being swollen up by a greatsword is super fun

Actually the bow hitbox is god awful now. Arrows are flying through people… it’s bad and very unreliable… however the issue with bow moreso is how far it can hit. Plus when you get people tagging you from far while getting hit be melees it’s super annoying. It gets worse when you got like 5 bows and muskets shooting at you… like just decrease the range for all range weapons or add a bunch of trees and rocks to make it so people don’t have los

Lets be honest here, the skill cap was never high to begin with. Compared to any other mmo with pvp, “Top tier” pvpers in this game are something to shrug off at best, and laughed at, at worse. Game severely lacks counter play or any in-depth decision making that results in you outplaying your opponent in a clever or interesting way.

The skill cap was always low. It only became more noticeable because AGS keep doing blanket nerfs/buffs out of the community request, when the community struggle to grasp what make certain mechanic overbearing/under-powered in the first place.

I agree but I’m trying to say the skill gap was a lot higher. There was crazy unbalanced weapons. But due to awful weapon balancing, desync, bugs like weapon swap and potion bugs… the skill gap is way less. There use to be a bit more counter play but things like berserk and immortality make it so there’s not. Only way to stop a berserk is a stun and there are very few in the game. Smart hatchet players can break stuns with berserk. And to make matters worse you can animation cancel with the weapon…

I felt like more people started coming back. However it was the lack of content… but brimstone we saw a surge of people coming back. But in terms of combat and PvP it was awful. It is now pretty much a pve game and an awful one at that. Terrible copy and paste mob but I got through that because I was like oh this is going to be a PvP game with wars, opr, territories, factions… but for some reason they hardly focus on that aspect. And from what I’m seeing a lot of people started leaving again… and a lot of people log in here and there and PvP is pretty much the same people with a splash of server tranfer players… what I want is to go back to how PvP was in the summer and just fix a few weapon balances and bugs and just add new content…

But str builds have wicked scaling lmao. Mage still slaps though but melee just answers everything in this game, can our run anyone, gap close, best cc packages, un top of having perma grit essentially… you add medium or heavy and they hardly lose damage output and are tankier and have the best mobility and you can’t break distance anymore from them??? Jokes

Throne and Liberty is a Pay to Win sht like any game from NCSoft.

Not just p2w, it is PAY OR LOSE. Pay stands for thousands $$ a month continuously to be a decent player.

Honestly I’m only looking at T&L as a time-filler until AoC A2.

It looks like an interesting game but I’ve got no faith in the devs,
so don’t plan on doing anything but playing it pretty casually.

Unless something changes and it’s not insanely P2W.

But we already know it will be.

So we all know there is no PvP content aside from leaderboards but tbh leaderboards ain’t saving this game. There is no skill gap anymore and you’ll see why with these glaring PvP problems…

  1. Desync: this is by far the worst desync I’ve felt with in this game. After brim this seems to be an occurring issue… weapon abilities not hiring when they clearly hit, smacked through eye frames, hit by abilities you thought you dodged or nowhere near you… but yet spear abilities are bugged such as sweeps or cyclones hitting and yet no hit reg?
  2. Bugs: just classic new world stuff. New patch roles out and more bugs. You add this to the desync and combat feels real good… between bugged weapon swaps and potions not going off for example… super fun especially gettting smacked by a greatsword simultaneously…
  3. Unbalanced weapons:

Greatsword: like what were they thinking… I have ptsd from that greataxe lunge and we add a weapon that’s worse? I don’t even know where to start with this thing and pair it with a hatchet it makes we want to close of a new world… hit through eye frames, freezes players with hop ur then staggers, slows, crazy dmg buffs, absurd tracking, hit people through eye frames… I can write a whole thread on this weapon…

  1. Hatchet: going immortal and having haste on top of grit on top of being healed on top of being able to remove cc… I’m so tired of having to kill ppl twice essentially… it’s already a pain killing someone through berserk cause there little counter play to it but then they can defy… ok… pair this with a greatsword an bad player will seem good super easy and forgiving weapon and is really good with any melee weapon can’t go wrong…
  2. Blunderbuss: can we get exhausting net shot out of the game? 50 percent slow for what eternity and to top it off a 60 percent exhaust? Like what I get hit by this and why stam bar gets bugged… on top of the bunderbuss absurd burst dmg. You pair it with a cc weapon and you got a cheesy toxic buiild.
  3. Musket: nothing beats just randomly seeing my health get chuncked out of nowhere… and I’m slowed and heavy for tick… and what’s super funny is people cried for bow pen nerf(rightfully so) but muskets have there on pen shot and it’s hitscan? Ya ok new world. Love getting tagged by muskets while tryna impossible dodge greatsword… like why don’t we add more trees and covers and rework maps…you piss off a musket and he has a musket buddy and they will head hunt you all game… get rid of the sniper scope and ranged players can’t see nameplates… like something new world do something.

Bow: I’ll be honest this might annoy people but now really isn’t as good as what it was. The issue with the bow is the range and becomes extremely annoying when ppl sit back and tag you… but arrows flying through ppl ridiculous… just fix the damn range on the weapon…

Firestaff: keep holding that flamethrower button pal. With desymc this ability is just that much more dumb… you be out of it and your health still melting… and they can practically hold it up for ever? Can’t eye frame it either. Just the easiest skill in game and no drawback… just w key and you can pop a stone form and yeah…

Lifestaff: tired of healing circles… you get a decent healer and they practically immortal… requires a lot of people focusing them… paired with escape weapons and this weapon is still as annoying as ever.

Ice guantlet/void: only issue really is the roots… this problem gets amplified with all the other nutty weapons running around. Nothing like getting rooted into a g well into a greatsword stagger…

Greataxe: gravity well… I hated this ability since it came out… but now with desync you can roll it and be out of it and still get sucked in. I get staggered once and I’m in the middle of the well rooted… with all the cc especially staggers this ability is just so annoying…

Warhammer: the desync stuns… when you out of range of stun you still get hit?

Light attacks and 300 str perk: we are in the left click spam meta… with the nerf to light armor(which needed a nerf but not like this) essentially makes it so melee attacks slow and harder to break distance. And you can’t be staggered thanks to having 300 str? Most weapons can’t counter that…

Fix new worlds poor cc system… this problem has gotten out of hand especially with the greatsword… getting staggered non stop and rooted and not to mention the stun locks they said they didn’t want in the game is back and stronger than ever… nothing is more fun then having non interactive pvp…

Does melee feel consistent to everyone?

There are some players I attack and the seem like they can do nothing. Their character is like permanently staggered, they move slow, the don’t dodge far, their riposte takes like a full second to activate after being triggered, and my tracking stays stuck to them.

Then there are other players who are seemingly unaffected by the melee slow, my melee tracking doesn’t stick to them at all, sometimes they take no damage even though they didn’t dodge or they dodged late, and their riposte is instant and unavoidable. These players aren’t doing anything noticeable different, but they feel different to fight against. It’s like they are semi-invisible to the melee tracking.

I know when I use the musket, I commonly shoot through people, so I wonder if it’s just the melee version of that.

Is this all in my head or anyone else experience something similar?

There is a lot of desync in the game. For instances I’ll Blanca lt but someone with a sweep with no grit or stam and they don’t get knocked. Arrows go through people, some melee attacks hit from a mile away or don’t hit at all. I feel like you more likely to hit with slash weapons due to the aoe and they are already sticky.

It was still released over 1 year “late” too, hahahh.
They should have just built the game right the first time around. There are an insane amount of bugs to fix still, not to mention HUGE balancing problems and also firestaff abilities still being absolute garbage. The combat system is just not fun at all, this was my first thought when playing the beta.

Grav well roots for 0.33 seconds max if I’m not mistaken, what’s more concerning are the exploits going around whereby anyone can merge another weapons passives onto their main weapon. BB with all skills off cooldown in 2 seconds, 9k musket headshots and using defy death with any other weapon are some of the favorites. It’s widespread yet the NW team hasn’t said a word. They can’t fix this one like the other musket screwups without disabling all weapons, oof. The biggest issue is they talk a big game in communications like they take care of exploiters but they do not, they get a slap on the wrist at best in the vast majority of cases.

Lets start from this, they had plans to create survival game not MMORPG. Now they trying to rework whole game. They had not finished and released game. You probably have never played alpha and beta so u dont know.

Yeah pretty much. But roots are weird in this game. Sometimes I can get out of wells easy and other times I’ll clearly roll it and be outside of it but it still pulls me in and just continues to root me y til I’m in the middle… idk just like everything in the game now is just clunky. There’s a passive the cause you to root when you cause a pull in Greataxe. So Everytime gwell sucks you in it feels like you can’t move sometimes
