Those are hardly considered rulesets…its just a few safezone stipulations to assist in the flow of play. And they clearly are pre-coded foundations for the world, not ongoing maintenances…
Ok, well so would be for example then the disablement of territory control and factions. As well as just having all crafting stations maxed out. Clearly pre-coded for a PvE centric server.
But now tell me, would none of these decisions on one server impact later decisions on another server?
I am not sure i understand? I dont know why a delay timer before being auto flagged on for pvp when leaving town would affect a pve server?
Are you asking me if disabling territory control on a pve server would affect the 1 pvp server? I am confused lol
Can someone help me out here?
As stated, it’s not about what happens on the PvP server. It’s what happens on the current servers AFTER those with PvP interest would leave for PvP servers.
What will happen to territory control if in worst case scenario, you are left with people with no interest in these game mechanics?
Do bear in mind that the game as designed currently, is a PvX game. By taking away one of these groups, you will inherently impact the gameplay of the other as well.
Similarly, for that matter. Will players on the PvP centric servers remain happy with the fact that most endgame gear is obtained via a rather PvE heavy gameplay loop? I’m pretty sure we both know the answer to this already.
Sure, in armchair developer mode it’s all just a matter of flicking a switch and this highly successful PvP server is there. But in reality, there are consequences which will have to be taken into account. Both in terms of its impact on current servers and any future non-PvP server. As well as in terms of how to handle feedback with regards to certain gameplay loops designed for current PvX servers, on e.g. a PvP-centric server.
Alright then forget the few simple qol changes I promoted…what about just a pvp-on server? With the exact same game as all the other new world servers? I would still be on board with that…
Yes. Because its the same game. Pvp server doesnt mean people wont be playing pve…it just means people will be doing both without turning off pvp flag.
So youre suggesting that pvp players would in fact want a pvp server? But youre holding them hostage to keep the pve servers functional? I dont understand the problem with this…
First off, 1 pvp server wouldnt empty 15 optional-pvp servers, as most people in these forums presumed that the pvp server wouldnt even be full.
Secondly, optional-pvp servers would still function accordingly, and if that many people did leave for the new pvp-on server, then like in the past, they would do server merges to make the servers high population again. People will always be doing the territorial control on every server regardless of who leaves and not every pvper will switch to the pvp-on server. Not to mention the possibility that a pvp-on server would rake in new crowds of a higher playerbase than the current 40,000 concurrent players or whatever.
If we disregard the few safezone QOL changes i recommended…a pvp-on server would still be more fun than the optional-pvp servers for people who want more world pvp without flagged off players in the 1 server.
A pvp-on server is still pvx/pve just without flagging off…And lets not forget…900,000 players bought the game and quit. So its not like the current system is golden game design that didnt fail. In many eyes and standards of mmorpgs, new world already failed and is clinging to scraps. Its now considered a pvp sandbox with pve elements like Rust and competes in player numbers. But its nowhere near top mmorpg populations like wow, ffxiv, gw2 , eso, etc…
I have seen a lot of arguments against 1 pvp-on server being introduced, but I am flabbergasted by the hoops some people are jumping through to stop pvpers from getting the type of all-action-all-out-warfare-server they have been looking for, for over a year. It’s time they start planning for a pvp+on server even if its the same exact game without my suggested QOL safezone changes and even if its released in autumn 2023.
A Pvp-on server doesnt mean turn off pve…it just means give brave souls the action they have been craving, so they dont have to roam around the new world barely finding fights outside instanced battles!
Yes, clearly.
Anyway, done with this. I merely explained the point the other person was likely wanting to make. But apparently that goes well over your head.
I tried to address your concerns–
Is that not a satisfactory consideration?
@Fornix they don’t see how one simple decision would impact entire community. They don’t see that is not only about create a server, but to adequate others to the changes (that they don’t see) will affect those that will “not join” a pvp server.
Will try to illustrate with fictional numbers. Let`s say NW has base player of 1000, scattered on all regions and servers. Being generous I’ll say 300 will be pvp players that currently does OPR and other pvp stuff and keep crafting stations on high level. Now imagine that these 300 migrate to a pvp centric server (don’t care the rules), what will happen to other servers? No one to run that content, stations will rot, settlements will crumble.
Bottom line, a huge change to pve centric servers’ mechanics would be mandatory, to accommodate the exodus of pvp players, it’s not only create and go.
I am incredulous…
First, its not enough players would fill a pvp-on server…
Then its what will we do when all pvp players leave the pvp-optional servers…
What did they do when 900,000 players quit the game?
They merged servers and everything went back to high populations per server…
I think they will need to keep the pvp aspect on current servers for the pvx population. I like pvp but don’t really have a desire to play on a server where it’s on all the time. I’m not always in a pvp mood so I want to be able to go in open world and not always having to be on guard. Sometimes I just want to farm mats or bosses and just watch a football game or show while doing it. Non-stop pvp at all times I will find annoying after a while. I’d imagine most pvx players won’t play on pvp servers.
Thank you comfortablynumb! These two seem to think 1 pvp-on server will destroy all other servers lol
I will vote yes but a zone would be better imo, it would let ppl of lower levels level up and gear up, and players would know where the pvp action is rather than wasting time finding pvp or killing noobs,
I suggest a big zone that players go to just for pvp fun, and I suggest you get to chose on character creation orc or human just for pvp, can still pic 1 of 3 factions for regular territories,
Simple idea, benefits all hurts no one, why would anyone be against it? why not try it?
Yes why indeed lol…why indeed…
All pvpers do pve, but not all pvers do pvp.
But just one pvp flag on server, even without my suggested QOL safezone flag timer changes etc. would be an awesome experiment
(Note: the players making their own pvp server doesnt work because people just betray the code of honor and flag off for safe farming anyway lol)
A zone would be cool but it would have to have a good amount of incentive.
Wow poll is literally 39 to 39. Crazy how theres a split in playerbase anyway.
PVP servers should have been added when the game forst dropped.
As soon as somewhere a topic appears with PvP in the Titel the PvE Mob arrives… No Wonder it’s 39:39. If you are Not interested in PvP at all this Poll is Not for you ![]()
I voted yes, but i think a pvp Zone is the best solution, but i guess we will never get it cause the toxic PvE Mob wont let them give us a fun Zone.
I voted yes too…
The problem with is pvp zone is that it will be dead on servers that have predominant pve players, and then people complain that AGS need to give more incentives for people to go there, and at that point pvp come carrot-on-stick because people will go there not because pvp but because they want the reward.
What I mean, those that like owPvP are scattered across many servers and there is no easy way for them to find each other… the solution would be something like GW2’ WvWvW map… bro, a permanent corrupted version of aethernum that anyone can visit and that flags you upon entry… we will need cross server capabilities for that though.
Totally! I still dont see why one pvp-on server would affect any of the other pvp-optional servers…
And again i would reiterate that none of the flag-on timer/safezone changes I suggested are absolutely necessary, so theres not an exorbitant amount of developer’s time needed to just open a server where you cant flag off pvp outside towns
The thrills of danger and an ever present war and factions really taking their territories seriously, like patrolling their own territory to make sure their faction members can farm and level up safely, would just be a dynamic of action packed awesomeness and strategic value that new world is missing!
This right here…
