PvP Tips for GA WH (melee) from a Mage. Balanced

It’s not op at all. It doesn’t last long and you can dodge out of it. Compared to other weapons it’s cc is on the weaker side. A GA/WA can stun you repeatedly and delete you once you’re caught. Ice storm only gives a slow then with unending thaw perk you have to land a heavy shot(with the lag, de sync, dodges, blocks, slow IG animation) to freeze them. What are they supposed to do? Tune it so you can just fight in the storm with no issues?

What an obnoxiously condescending post by someone obviously just trying to conceal the fact that they don’t want their broken weapon nerfed.

nah, your reasoning is crap.

  1. players can only actively choose 1 perk. Only extremely wealthy people get two specialized perks. Your solution is spends 100s of thousands of gold to counter the current meta. Thats a bad pvp game design

2)GA melee loses in melee range with current light attacks. They only win in an area with massive amounts of random aoe going off(multiple players). This is only due to grit, and heavy armor, and pocket healers. Any melee outside of that really has no place, other than the utility of their skills for 1-2 attacks. Or for melee enthusiasts to deathmatch other melee.

Not hating on your post, it’s mostly well put, but this part made me laugh. You realize that ice gauntlet aoe can be plopped right on someone’s head, and you can’t dodge out of it right? Do you expect a melee player to just play at range and never move in? Ice gauntlet and void gauntlet are clearly way out of line right now. The wars on my server are about 40+ players that have one or the other, or both. If you think that’s just the other players playing badly, you are out of touch with reality.

If you read to the end you would see that my weapon is the firestaff/rapier in med armor. Apparently your inability to read shows your lack of intellectual aptitude on the matter.

Wars are different, in wars you must remain on the point. But are you really going to tell us that a melee cant avoid and/or dodge out of a ice storm. If thats what you are saying then you may want to go look at some youtube videos showing that is what melee does. As a mage I have to dodge out of it, why do you think there is a difference in a mage dodge and a melee dodge. So you do realize it doesnt matter your class, the ice storm/slow effects all of us the same. The only difference is skill/experience and using the tools that the game provides for us to use. Well, some of us.

So your reasoning is that my reasoning is crap because the necessary perks are in the game but some people choose not to craft and gather enough to better their gear. Interesting reasoning.

As a pvp player how well a build works in the available pvp settings is pretty important, no?

Problem is that you get permastunned no matter what armour you use. Only thing armour do for melee is how long time you will stand without beeing able to move your character before you die…

One problem for melee is that you dont hit that mage in toe vs toe because of desync/lag/bug.
So where exacly is melee going to fight bow/musket because we cant even get to them even if we fight inside a fort in a closed area… because hits dont register…
Oh wait, now I understand… Melee shall fight melee and ranged users shall fight other ranged users?.. AND crush melee?

Yeah, only mages figured out how to use pots/food… Melee havent figured that one out yet THATS why it seems so unbalanced… Got ya!
As a melee user I need to protect myself from slashdamage since I will go Toe vs Toe with other melee users and the nature of melee fighting is you move in a smaller area when fighting. On top of that I gonstantly get hit by muskets and bows/Ice/fire/Void… As a ranged user you have much better opportunity to pick what you want to resist.

No, not really. Some weapon/combos are just way OP. If class A can only beat class B and only win in 70% of the fights While class C can kill both A, B, D, E and F in 100% of the cases then class A is a good counter to class B while class C is simply OP.

your reasoning has a base assumption that is not true.

a very small part of the population has access to high GS items with more than 1 good perk (2 if you count attribute).

your solution for pvp is simply not a solution for the vast majority of players.

you basically said the equivalent of telling poor people they could solve all their problems if they would just become CEOs at fortune 500 companies.

Right, so now people who are not having the PvP problems that you are, are exploiters. You say I don’t understand melee issues, but i would disagree. The fact that you even commented shows that this post was right on the money and exposed your own weaknesses. Its was meant to help. But apparently some would rather cry and cry on the forums about nerf everything except what i play. Everything except what I play is OP. Stop it! Learn to play your class to the best of the games abilities or pick another class. In the mean time, crying nerf this and nerf everything that I don’t play and every other class are exploiters because the can beat me… is not going to make you better at PvP.

Some things are overpowered and needs to be toned down in line with the others.
This is often due to that the devs did not think of all possible combinations when creating new items and sometimes when paired with other skills it simply become op.

I dont like nerfs in general I prefer they buff underperforming stuff instead but I understand sometimes they need to bring 1 item down instead of buffing 500 other items…

But im not asking for specific nerfs more general nerfs like diminishing returns on stuns/root.
I also want BUGS like desync fixed because as a melee its pretty confusing when you beat someone but hits do not register and suddenly the guy you are beating is teleported away and right after you are teleported back and forth…

Bad news dude , ice gauntlet will actually get buffed it was said in AGS interview because it’s incredibly bad , and if you are getting caught by ig you must learn how to play the game :slight_smile:

but hey we have Rapier for Glass canons so they can kite 5 and kill 2 of them until cavalry comes
