Quality of Life Suggestions for Feb. Patch

Dear Dev Team,

Since the February Patch is all about Bugs, Bots, and Balance, how about adding in more quality of life features? Here are some suggestions.

  1. Double or triple the range of camps. In other words, let us respawn at camps from 1000 or 1500 meters away. You can tie that distance to the Tier of the camp if you want (So tier 1 is 500 meters, tier 3 is 1000, tier 5 is 1500).

  2. If we are flagged for PVP, allow us to destroy camps where all players bound to the camp are also flagged for PVP. This would add some more open world PVP content and help us deal with players who are camping resource spawns and using third party programs and macros to help them strike first with their gathering tools.

  3. Add Gypsum Kilns to all cities except Everfall and Windsward (those two towns don’t need any more reasons for people to go there).

  4. Add a group-finder for expeditions or maybe even OPR so solos can more easily team up.

  5. Change all daily timers to reset at midnight. Keeping track of Gypsum Casts, Elite Chests, Asmodeum, Glittering Ebony and so on is a real pain.

  6. Reduce the weight of all quest items to zero.

  7. Remove all durability loss from PVP deaths. There needs to be as few barriers to flagging for PVP as possible.

  8. Let us sell houses to get back half the gold we spent.

  9. Let us spend gold (and/or Azoth) to reset our territory standing cards.

  10. Remove the distance limits on teleporting a player into a dungeon when his/her group enters. It’s just aggravating to have to wait on one person to run all the way to Genesis from First Light because they’re out of Azoth.

  11. Give us a way to display tool skins even when we’re not using the tools. What’s the point of buying tool skins in the game shop if no one ever gets to see how cool they look?

  12. Buff the amount and quality of items we get from Alchemy Chests. Right now the loot from these things are junk.

  13. Let us Flag/Unflag for PVP at our camps.

  14. Reduce the number of items that are bind on pickup as much as possible. Let us trade these things.

  15. Use your massive amounts of data to find out which crafting mods are used the least and then buff the bonuses from them. I find myself tossing so many of these things on the ground because no one ever wants them. Make them good enough, people have to at least experiment with them for a while.

  16. Reduce the particle effects for weapons/abilities the more people are around. So if it’s a solo player, throw all the particles and flashes you want. But in wars and zergs, make it so it’s less so the lag is reduced.

  17. Reduce the amount of XP needed to advance crafting skills from 150 to 200. Even a 5 or 10 percent reduction for each level would be much appreciated.

  18. When we sell something on the Trading Post, give us more information than just the coin being added to our wallet. Tell us what was sold and how many and from which town. This includes stuff we sell while we are offline.

  19. I appreciate the 10% speed buff to running while on roads. Please make it a 15 to 20% bonus while in town. It’s still a pain to run from crafting station to crafting station in many of the cities such as Monarch’s Bluffs and Restless Shores. Running just a bit faster will reduce the hassle of crafting and refining in many of the settlements. Also, eliminate fall damage while in town. Restless Shores is a pain.

  20. Let us sort by all the categories on the trading post. You can let us sort by cost and name, but why not all the columns? I mean, the display is basically just a spreadsheet anyway, right?

  21. Give us more storage for crying out loud. The amount of frustration the current system causes is uncalled for. It certainly doesn’t make the game more fun or comfortable to play.

  22. Get rid of the gear score downscaling for people who have an Expertise less than an item’s GS. This is just a dumb idea. Let people play the game how they want.

  23. Base the upkeep costs for crafting stations to companies that control a territory on the number of houses owned in that territory. The more people with houses in a territory, the higher the upkeep for the company. This way, territories with fewer players require less spending from the company, and they will be able to maintain higher level crafting stations more easily.

  24. Let us retrieve items from our town storage inventories while we are out in the wilderness for a gold and azoth cost. Let us deposit things at a cost, as well.

  25. Do not let defenders in a war spawn at a point they do not 100% control. It advantages the defense too much. If the attacker is in the middle of taking that point, the defenders should have to spawn somewhere else, just like attackers do. It’s fair to both sides.

  26. It would be great if there was a page or tab somewhere on our character profile that showed all the perks we get from equipped armor, weapons, food, etc. and whether those perks stack or not. For instance, if two or more perks are redundant and don’t stack, the ones that do not stack should be grayed out or something.

  27. If possible, let us switch fields in chat using slash commands. Such as /c for company or /f for faction or /g for global. Same for player names.

  28. When I search in my storage shed, could I also type in key words for perks, stat bonuses, and so on? So if I typed in, “Strength” every item with a bonus to Strength would show up. Or if I typed in “Fortify” then every item with some kind of Fortify perk would show up. That would be nice.

  29. Add an Event Log for us that will tell us every item we’ve salvaged, dropped, sold, bought, or traded. Also have it tell us what players killed us, what player’s we’ve killed, and what items have broken because they lost durability. Give it a time limit of three or seven days so it doesn’t take up a lot of memory. But we need some type of history so we know what’s going on.

  30. Add in pay server transfers. Honestly, you guys have left so much money on the table because you never put a server transfer token in the store for five or ten dollars. People would have been paying for those things for months now if you had them available to buy. I don’t get it. Why do you not like money?

  31. Speaking of transfers, put the population numbers back up on the server select screen. That way players can make good choices about where to transfer.

  32. Extend the Upkeep portion of the Town boards to 6 missions instead of three. Many towns have no missions to do. Add in more, and if the character doing the missions is level 60+ then double the rewards.

  33. Increase the bonuses for Luck and Gathering Luck for PVP flagging to 15% and 45% respectively. The current amounts are not enough to incentivize players. Alternatively, you can give PVP flagged players a bonus to the amount they harvest while PVP flagged. That would also be a nice incentive.

  34. Make it so player-characters can walk through each other in an expedition just like in town. There’s no chance of PVP in an expedition, so I don’t see why that would be much of a problem and it would make dungeons much more comfortable to play.

  35. Give us a warning somehow when a piece of our gear is down to its last 5% durability. It can be in the chat or a very discreet banner at the top. Just something to remind us.

  36. Give us a way to color code or label our gear. We all have different sets of harvesting, PVP, and mutator gear. Let us add stickers or change the background color or change the outline color or something so we can quickly and easily differentiate among the different gear sets.

  37. In Wars, Invasions, and OPR have ally health bars be orange and enemy health bars stay red. This will help us differentiate them in battle.

  38. Star Metal nodes and Platinum Nodes (I think) look too similar on the compass. Could you change the color of one or the other to differentiate them better?

  39. Could you add how much weight and space is left in our storage when we click on a town from the map? Currently, I can see everything in my storage, but I can’t see how much space/weight I have left. Knowing that would let me be more efficient in my travels.

  40. Could you make it so the “You are leaving town without checking into an inn” message does NOT show up if we have a house in that settlement and our taxes for that house are paid? It’s just a minor annoyance, but it would be nice not to have to deal with it.

Thank you,

Most of the items listed would be great and add to the game. Unfortunately I think the devs do not play their own game and have no idea how frustrating many things are. If the devs played regularly they would know about how hard it is to differentiate gear sets or how frustrating the storage limit is. You can also watch the video of the devs playing…most level 10 players know their character better and how to play.

A lot of people say that about all types of games. I don’t know how true that is. Most of these suggestions, though, should be easy. They’re just adjusting numbers for the most part. It’s amazing how just a few little can go a long way in making a game better.
