As far as I can tell, there is a SINGLE one that shows up about every ten minutes. All the other elk in the area don’t count even if they have antlers. This is one of the most frustrating quests I’ve ever done. Now when I get it I don’t even bother. You have to camp the spot for at least half an hour and you’d better hope no one else has the same quest.
Brutal… indeed only one stag and takes for ever to respawn. One ran away into a house…really?.. killed it there, got the kill but it disappeared I guess because half its body was outside the house so couldn’t skin it… just brutal…
There are two Stags. One immediately behind the spirit shrine, and another ahead on top of the hill. But yes, it took forever for me to find them since others were killing them and I had no idea there were only 2.
