Is it ever worth putting points into both Strength and Dex or should I only focus on one? Obviously I am going to put points into Con too for health. Any thoughts or tips are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
only focus on one based on your weapon
Thanks for the response @pitdingo ! What if I have 2 weapons and one scales with dex and the other strength? Is that not advised?
correct. you should respec your points unless you want to gimp yourself.
Thank you sir
Any other thoughts or ideas from the rest of the community? Always trying to learn.
This is a good guide if the numbers all check out.
You can use two different scaling weapons, but preferably you’d want one that at least uses your attributes as a secondary stat. For example a spear if you are mainly strength based. You want to focus on the attribute of your main weapon however.
Edit: I’d like to add you can get around this a little as well. If you spec for focus because you like the healing staff, you can put a gem on your weapon that gives it nature damage, that way a portion of its damage will scale off of focus even though it might not be a attribute it’d normally scale off of. You can do the same for intelligence.
Thanks @Malakith. This is the general gist that I seem to be getting. I have been putting points into both strength and dex and have started to feel like I am slowly becoming a master of none which isn’t my vibe lol.
I edited my previous post a little to add some more info. But yea you’re probably better off sticking mostly to 1 attribute first, of you use the secondary for just utility it’s not that important anyway. You can see in the attribute list what weapons scale off of what attribute
I don’t know, the first dex passive (+5%crit) seems nice enough for you to want to put point there. It does have a lot of synergy with some perk, and on weapons who second dex you do not lose much.
I picked two weapons, one ranged and one melee, that use the same stats. I focus on raising those stats.
I really appreciate it. I love playing with the Musket so I am going to respec when I get home today and put points soley into dex and con. My secondary was a sword and shield but I am wondering if that is a sub-optimal pairing as sword and shield gains the least from dex. I just don’t like the animations for rapier lol otherwise I would use that. Maybe I’ll go hatchet?
I haven’t crunched the numbers but I’d expect it to still be a net loss since it only effect crits slightly while missing out on a lot of damage you’d otherwise get on all your skills.
@00berprinny this was my original idea. 50 points just feels like a lot of points to dump into an attribute for 5% but it definately could still be worth it potentially. I think ultimately I will have to respec several times at max level to play around with different builds and see what feels the best even though that cost money.
Your main damage will come from the musket so you can use sword and shield with no problems I think. You’ll probably be running light or medium armor as well, so you could consider putting 50 points from con into strength too for the first passive. You’ll be a little squishier but you’d want to avoid damage anyway.
@Malakith damn, that’s exactly how I am building at the moment. Maybe I’ll keep trying that out and see it to level 60. Feels nice to be validated by someone who seems to know what they are talking about
No problem! Have fun experimenting!
Focus on 2 Stats, BUT if you have two weapons, which both use the same secondary stats, it could be worth it to get some points via gear, as early points (5-50 iirc) scale more …
So having Like 2 Str/Dex weapons put all your levelup points into Str (+con if you’re going melee) and get some dex with gear would net you more damage than full blown Str (+con)
Its save to guess within the next vew weeks there will be an Essay about that
