watch the dev update. They say exactly what happens. They turn into loot boxes. I would guess by the time this goes live it will include umbral shards(for mutated orb chests) and probably like 1k gold, plus named drops that can be upgraded to legendary and then salvaged(new salvage items)
Curious, what do you use your tokens for?
I’m wondering what will happen to chisles as well. I’m thinking they may nice arena orbs into the faction shop, otherwise we kinda losing mostb if the value from the shop with the update. That’s why excited about PTR notes. Wanna see the fine details from this change.
Maybe they will add the new pvp craft mods into the faction shop.
I wouldn’t “guess” that they’re going to give anyone more gold than they cost in the first place, or that a gen or laz box would come with umbral in it.
Neither of those matches up with their previous “rewards”
Giving me a named purple that then costs me 125+ umbral to upgrade it 600 just to salvage it, is giving me a chore not a reward.
Currently I was using the tons of tokens I get from running faction influence on territories, to buy orbs for when I do PvE in the evening. I have 20+ of each orb laying around in addition to the ones I was using nightly. Also chisels to create PvE arena orbs since I try to run 2 of those a day.
I also buy the 1 gypsum orb a day.
I was using overflow on consecrated iron, but I have piles of those crafting mats and have no intention of crafting until there is a major overhaul of that system. Its insanely costly to ever make something that isn’t just salvage.
I will say, with the new system you want get the new salvage resources so you can make anything you want. Most of the hardercore players have everything they want by for some the Tempest Orbs will be nice. Also not everyone has gone back to get the blackguard Blunderbuss since the drop was fixed. Not be worth holding for future dungeons to either get what you want faster or for when they release harder to get items. Isabella’s armor for some might be nice.
Then there is the other perfect salvage system that this might jumpstart some people. Again not worth buying any extra orbs at this point but for some maybe buying a ton of Tempest could be worth it.

Maybe one of those caches will have a raiders hat in it. Since the boss who drops it chooses not to drop a bag other than 1 in 10 runs, thats the only thing I would want from tempest that I don’t already have.
Umbral shards wont come with regular tuning orbs. But Mutated tuning orbs are going away too.
There is a whole new salvaging system. So spending umbral to upgrade named items to 600 in order to salvage is going to be a thing.
But I guess knowing AGS track record we will prob get 25 gold, 6 life motes, and a broken hatchet.
Obviously, I don’t know, but I suspect the answer is “nothing.”
My primary reason for this suspicion is that the guy in the dev video very explicitly said “expedition” when referring to the tuning orbs. He did not mention arenas at all. I suspect orbs will still be required for arenas. So most of the orb materials would still be useful.
For the handful of orb materials that would no longer be useful - asmodeum chisels, maybe? - I’m guessing they will be treated like vials of suspended Azoth - they will continue to exist and may have new uses in the future.
All guesses and assumptions, of course.
i mean i wouldn’t write off suspended azoth all that much considering its at least useful for crafters
molten ruins and stuff with no use after would literally have no use which is a little diffrent.

I think those items are going to be used to purchase items from a dungeon.
Like 200 blight seeds buys you a legendary from genesis or maybe laz since laz keys use seeds.
- For Normal expeditions, caches will reward a roll from the sub-boss and main boss found in that specific expedition, and grant coin equal to 50% the cost previously associated with buying that specific type of orb from the Faction Shop.
- For Mutated expeditions, caches will reward 4 boss rolls off the final boss of 4 eligible mutators, and coin equal to 50% the cost previously associated with buying that specific type of orb from the Faction Shop.

Wondering about Mutation orbs, final boss of which Mutation? Now there will be 6 mutation. Also no umbral shard is mentioned.
So like I assumed, they’re going to stiff us and give us worthless BoP items that will probably be purples, and any orbs you bought are now a LOSS of gold.
I can wave goodbye to about 600,000 faction tokens too. Thanks AGS.
I should have literally never bought an orb and just turned them into consecrated iron shards. I would have made orders of magnitude more gold back just reselling them and NOT BEEN STIFFED for more than a half million tokens.
Oh yeah, while they were at it, you’ll now make 80% less gold from running these dungeons.

It’s like they’re trying to lose the PvE players right after driving out the last of the PvP players.
We should revise those estimates on the the servers getting turned off. I don’t think we’ll see the winter event or the new region at this rate.
I dont like the way of refund too, but I strongly doubt that anybody will be quitting cuz of Orbs refund.
But yeah, they should refund at least full price of orbs in faction shop + instead of faction points to be the box for drop rolls.
But oh well considering the current crazy inflation into game, I think the losses will be little overall.

There’s a point we will eventually reach as players, when every time we interact with a game system the way they made it, we realize they punish us for doing so and we stop playing.
We go out and run the pvp track? Nah nerfed. Now takes 600 hours to get to the arbitrary end and it still just gives you RNG trash the majority of the time.
We start buying orbs from the faction vendor so everyone finally gets to run these endgame dungeons regularly? Nah… Take a big fat loss of time and gold and get a slap in the face cache.
People go out in the game world and capture forts more often than ever? NAH. Get nerfed. It takes ages now to even show a tiny bit of color on the capture circle. Have fun standing there for 15 minutes doing nothing.
It just further solidifies the assumption in people’s minds that they really don’t play this game and that’s why they are so apt to nerf and punish and generally screw us around.
If they had to deal with those results daily, they wouldn’t do it over and over and they’d realize how fucking bad it feels to play the game when it keeps happening.
Let’s be honest, literally almost everybody who bought Lazarus/Genesis orbs and is able to do Mutations10 did purely for own profits, not to help others.
It’s still not lost anything, there will be 1 week or more to consume the orbs as fast as u can.
