GS and HWM were not the same thing before, now they are fusing them
GS progress is being reset, the only unknown is whether HWM is also being reset.
BTW its interesting that you think pvp, crafting, and earning money are some how lesser than opening chests following a zerg for less time
Well, if someone give me equip or mats for crafting I can virtually get 600 in 1 day (fast). Zerging chest waiting reset require more time also if you do all the elite/chest rotaton everyday. Watermark won’t be resetted and gs will be temporarily leveled to your watermark
if someone is giving you all that stuff, you were going to be carried in any system they created, because other people are willing to work for you.
That is a freak occurrence, less than 1% of players have high crafting, less than 6% of level 60 players have any 600gs. according to dev posts and steam achievements.
what you would do if they reset HWM is the same thing the vast majority of players who grinded their money or crafting would do.
one of the number one complaints was how being level 60 is expensive and you can earn money, you really think most players didnt put massive effort into everything they did? you haven’t been paying attention.

I am a crafter so I am upset about the effectiveness mechanic.
However, a progress reset is inaccurate especially with the majority of people in this thread for some reason thinking your GS HWM gets put back to 500 even if you grinded it.
The better ease to craft guaranteed 600 gs / pick perk+attribute together however are nice changes, which will significantly reduce the number of craft attempts required to get that one perfect legendary crafted.
Your logic is very flawed. Who exactly is going to give you the literal tens of thousands of materials to level your crafting hmm?
I have 600 WM across the board except jewelry, it took a very long time. Funnily enough it takes crafters just as long to farm everything they need, craft it all then go on the rng merry-go-round to actually craft something useful.
These changes will screw a large portion of the community, whether or not it will affect you means nothing, it WILL affect a lot of people.
unfortunately ptr wont tell us if HWM transfers since all characters will be new. Need to wait on dev response for that. the rest is already in the blog
Btw how can you compare the crafting and gathering time (you can solo, when you want) with elite/chest zerging that require group movement and scheduling.

Its effectively a reset.
by comparing the time? people who chose not to zerg know that it was more efficient to do the daily chest zerg, they just didnt want to do it. I did the chest zerg and elite monster farm for a couple hours and gained way more GS than hours of gathering and crafting.
5gs increase in crafting needs 10-15 levels of leveling at 150+, which needs 10000s of materials. its way more time consuming. Joining a faction run and following and opening chests is fast.
It would make sense if they made this new GS improvement/reset if they released all the other weapons that are planned to be released.
That way you can farm all of it at once.
Now doing this reset and then releasing weapons bit by bit, will make people have to grind every other patch.

Write to Amazon’s executive team and complain at bezos@amazon.com. Ask for a internal review of upcoming decisions assosiated with the resetting of watermarks in New World. Make sure to establish necessary premises, they more then likely don’t have in game knowledge.
Live chat has been wrong before. I can only assume that this live chat person doesn’t know what they are talking about. The notes were just released and given the “knowledge” their support has shown in other issues I wouldn’t believe anything they wrote.

Because If you have all 580 gs crafted gear that you make yourself but only have 520 watermark you will go to 520 expertise (are just renaming watermark) crafted gear so your gear score will drop.
