Question regarding need for something we already have (PVP Servers)

I asked this in another thread and realized that the logic is so amazing that it deserved its own thread…

Question is…

So I’m confused here… I keep reading posts (from you PVP enthusiast types) that scream from the top of your respective rafters that New World can’t function without the PVP playerbase and the PVP playerbase is about 90% (or more) PVP’rs and the rest of us peons are lowly PVE’rs (or just don’t take PVP as seriously as you do and don’t count).

My counter to this is… if 90% or more of the playerbase are PVP and you all want PVP only servers… Why don’t you (all) hit the letter “U” on your respective servers and you’ll have exactly what you’re requesting.

Unless your numbers are off of course…

I wouldn’t say I cry for PvP servers. I curretly just do PvE leveling. But I always have PvP enabled.
First, it’s 10% more EXP, but mainly the additional risk increases the rewards, it feels just better and “more real”.

This question is more geared towards those people that never PVE honestly.

your question is clearly guided and completely wrong. First of all i think it is the general consensus that we all agree the majority of the playerbase is PvX. Not PvE only or PvP only. both the pve and pvp only playerbase probably make up for less than 5% of the population combined.

The reason we want a PvP server to answer your question for yet another time eventhough it is clearly stated in many topics already created such as mine I started a petition to open PvP servers. Please sign it if you want PvP servers too

There are many of us out there who feel new worlds open world PvP is one of the best and most entertaining aspects of the game. In the current state of new world, world pvp is totally dead and finding another pvp-flagged player in the open world is rare!

Thererefore we feel a PvP server would be a great addition to the game. A server where certain zones on the map will automatically flag you for PvP with no option to opt-out of being PvP flagged. This does not have to be every single zone on the map but we want PvP zones. In order not to upset those who enjoy the current opt-in pvp system we suggest opening a new set of PvP servers with this new ruleset so that likeminded pvp-oriented players can play new world with a truly dangerous open world.

We want an open world which is exciting and dangerous where you never know when you will run into an enemy. Where PvP events can happen dynamically. Where even a small thing like a player ganking you can turn into hours of fun and memorable moments of rallying up troops to stand up against the bad people giving you trouble.

It also brings a new life into the world. Many of us remember how this game was in beta and early launch. Where you had to be mindfull of how you moved in the open world. The rush of seeing enemy players out in the wild.

I think everyone can remember that rush of adrenaline you feel as you lay prone in the grass waiting for a horde of enemy players to pass right by you. I remember sucha moment where an army of 400 players stepped right over me as I lay prone in the grass unoticed.

The open world PvP is the most fun part of the game and that part of the game is currently dead and everyone is just sitting afk in towns queuing into instanced content. In the open world all you meet are a few unflagged players and a ton of unflagged bots.

So like… your entire post reflects what AGS has already given us on the servers. All you have to do, if you’re the PVP sort, is enable it and you’re golden.

I’ll never understand why someone who does not PVP would care if there was a PVP server? Guess what…you don’t have to join it :slight_smile: Problem solved, it has nothing to do with you, so you can stay on your respective PVX servers and those of us playing on a PVP server can enjoy an aspect of the game that was taken from us. Before you come back with “it will take the devs focus away from our servers” think about how many other mmos out there have this feature and they seem to be getting by just fine with it and I would like to think AGS could handle this just fine as I can’t see it adding any major problems that do not already exist on any other kind of server. Period. So let the more hardcore PVP players have 1 frikkin server to the 20 or so the rest of you have and stop being so greedy please, we deal with greed enough in real life we do not need to deal with it in digital life as well. Thank you, I’m here all week :slight_smile:

On a side note, I’ve heard players say it will take away the PVPers they need to make their server function yet in the very same sentence you tell us the PVP population is not large enough to warrant any PVP requests. So which is it? Cake and eat it too perhaps?

Why should a pvper leave the City? You can enter Arena or OPR from everywhere. Outside of the City is nothing a pvper can do.

The Boni for flagging are just crap, so Nobody does it besides a small percentage which do PvP and some gathering. And even for those small percentage the Boni for flagging is crap.

If all people are forced to be flagged outside of the cities even the 100% PvP would leave the City and search for some fights, even without good Boni, cause they have a good Chance to find a pvp Encounter.

I was interested in the notion someone mentioned, that 2 different sets of rules demand more dev work.

Immediately, one should elaborate a possible solution in form of getting the same updates and not evoking more dev work, at the cost of not getting any special treatment update wise.

Or in short: a locked PvP server will not get any specific changes, but anything all other servers get (updates)

IF this can be done, the -for now speculative argument- about devs having to put in extra work, can be resolved.

So i would grind out this path theoretically, then post a thread about it open for discussion.

IF this turns out to be a fail due to PvP players wanting different content alltogether, then i am 100% with @Suliman and advise a pre planned effort to gather as many PvP players as possible and join a FSS and make it a community rule to have PvP enabled at all times.

yeah nobody is asking for a different game. we want everything to be the same but with autoflag pvp zones. that is all. that is it.

I dont want to play on a pvp server with different rulesets other than autoflagging either. I like the game. I just hate that the open world is dead and boring and the only thing there is to do in the open world is run around in pve mode and gather flowers trying to out race the hordes of bots.

We have this big beautiful open world which isnt used for anything. Most ppl just stand afk in cities queuing into instanced content… such a damn shame and it was the beginning of the downfall for other big mmos like wow.

Hmm but I don’t think a PvP only server would work with the same rules as the PvX servers. Just thinking about economy and ressources - not so many available → prices would sky rocket → not so easy to get money with pvp alone. So the easiest solution would be to go farming in groups, which would give larger companies a huge advantage. But I mean you could try it

Great! Then why not do a clean thread in detail about what you would like AGS to do and get the whole PvP community behind it. I am sure you can pull it off.

And this right here is why PvP players first need to come together and hash it out.

been done many many times for over 2 years now. The devs know. And my thread got a response from a developer (not a community mod)

Pvp servers will come. I am confident of that.

Lets see, gathering up folks into groups for pvp…

“Can’t take a territory, groups are too high geared/rich/organized, blah de blah blah…”

Not the game fault there, but the players.

I wrote about rune hearts needing five different expeditions in player group mode to be gotten.
Then noted for group play to earn those, instead of expeditions pvp group play must be done.
There are only 3 group pvp plays that work. OPR, Arena, War.
In which a group has a victory.
You are short two group plays for victory.
