TBH the game does not even work at 2k. There’s not enough high-end resources nodes to support that kind of population at max level. in AGS minds, 9 territories means 9 companies of 100 players get to experience wars and territory management. But what happens in reality is 1 shell company can fill the map with 1-5 size companies and use this exploit to gatekeep the entire population out of wars. Before, at least you could abandon a dirty server full of weirdos, But now there are only a handful of servers and all of them have the same problem, you can’t escape it.
if they opened a new server, it would be overwhelmed immediately, Because people want to play territory management and wars. By merging the servers, AGS has effectively removed this game mode from the average player more than it already was. All they’ve done is concentrate the worst parts of the community together. For people who love doing nothing but spamming OPR/Dungeons I’m sure it’s great - but that is braindead mediocre gameplay you could get from any MMORPG.
Crafting, Town management, open world pvp and wars are what make this game unique and interesting and AGS has done everything they can to ruin them all, including over-merging the world. They want you on a treadmill of instanced content and have given up on their open world.
i came back as well because they finally removed orbs and now can do expeditions.
Of course, fix one problem, create another. Now theres a goddamn queue because of server consolidation. INCREASE THE SERVER CAP!EVERQUEST HAD HIGHER SERVER CAPS 20 YEARS AGO
Yeah agree with that, so it works well, they should just make 2 phases 1 pvp and 1 for people without so even if there are 4 k players enough endgame recourses are there.
3 hour que! OMG Reminds me of launch! I’m lucky I can play anytime I want since I am disabled and unable to work. I read a book while in que. BUT this is beyond stupid! AND I can’t be in PTR and the game as far as I know Might just try logging into PTR on the laptop but bet they say no to that! We have a Bot issue that never get fixed along with too little resources, most are being camped or is on a timer with bots. Heck just to level 28 levels on weponsmithing to 200 today it cost me almost 100k! Don’t get me wrong I LOVE the game. But I’m beginning to rethink my love of the game
I have tried 5-6 different times throughout the day to log into US East server Orofena and always there’s a queue that never actually goes away, it goes to 1 then back to like 6 and back to 1 and randomly all over the place but never actually lets me in. I had no issues logging into US West Yggdrasil without any queue at all. Unfortunately my main char I play is on Orofena.
Yeah and there lies the problem, i want to play the game, but i cant at the evening, but i will not lvl a new char again. So if nothing changens, that is it for me again, bevor it really startet again.
Once the event is over the server pops will drop dramatically, then the slow decline will continue again as before the event and all will be ready for the next event in a few months.
Of course there will be queues at peak times but I believe the game benefits (in publicity) from having a few people wait in queues as opposed to almost empty servers and calls of “dead game”.
Many players will be returning but have limited time to play - myself I love the game but haven’t had chance to play all summer due to RL responsibilities - finally tried to log in last night and hit the queue. I checked server for other character and found all were full so no chance to even move to a low pop server.
I’d be happy if they gave another character slot and new server for casuals - that way I could level up another character for when the queue are too high for my main and just poddle about relaxing till the queues settled on the main servers again.
Just wait until a few days after the event has finished and look at the pop numbers then. I am predicting they will return to the much lower levels they were 1 week before the event.
I understand, that making new Server would help in the short term for some new Players, but i think most player that will return have played this game allready and have a max lvl Char, this players as i am one, will not start fresh on a new Server, even if the revamp the lvling.
I’m willing to bet that is going to be the general mindset. This game has little if any solo progression content. So you need to get a decent injection of dungeon population and PvP population. Which New World PvP population struggles even on populated servers.
It’ll be like the days of Orun where if you didn’t play the game between 1800 and 2100 hrs local time. You were not going to be getting a match. Which actually makes the game completely unplayable.
They totally messed up with last merge. They NEED to understand one simple stupid thing: 2k (now 2.2k) ppl in one server IS TOO MUCH.
This game is great with 1k/1.2k ppl, not more. There are ppl that want do opr/arenas/dungeon all day long, for them an overpopulated server it’s Ok, for who want gather/craft/do invasion it’s not.
The market is totally CRAZY. Ppl have millions coins stored in secondaries characters in one player guild, also big companies (the shell ones) have cities so more money. Normal ppl can have max 500k and some prices are over this amount. I was in a 200 ppl server before merge and, yeah, too few ppl, market empty and not enough ppl for some stuffs, but now tbh I almost don’t log in. Ppl everywhere. If you find an ore of iron or some fibers you are lucky. You can’t farm the millions of resources you need ALL days for craft asmo/rune lather etc. It’s painful and stressfull.
The only solution is put channels in the server.
What happened is simple… AGS rushed the last server merges, before the big summer event and now the even bigger autumn patch.
They also destroyed fine communities doing so.
