Yes you can, it’s one chest PER EVENT.
So, if not before, you’ll eventually get one more chest when you kill 400 rabbits (guaranteed drop).

Does anyone know if it is one chest per character or is the event shared region wide like the season pass?
So, I have killed 410 rabbits since the event began, and I did not get the chest drop. Please advise.

I’ve got 2 chests so far and as I’m a glutton for punishment, so starting my 3rd char shortly!

Your count is wrong. 400 kills guarantees a chest drop. There is no in game counter. I got my chest in under 20 kills. Took 200 kills to get the mask. Game meat is a good indicator, but bunnies are not the only source of game meat.
It looks like the only other animal that drops game meat is armadillos. If you don’t skin many of those this event then game meat should be close to your actual rabbit kill number

My wife is around her 600 rabbit and still no chest.
She got it last year tho, and this year got the mask, so the 400 “per event” is debatable so far.
She is only doing rabbits to keep the meat count.
Maybe the chest dropped and the bag was missed? I know the 400th kill guarantees bag drop, but it doesn’t mean you’ll keep getting one on the next drop if you fail to pick it up. I think if you missed the 400th kill guaranteed chest drop, then you have to keep farming at 1:1000 odds.
I almost missed my mask drop since I was in a group and someone killed a rabbit on their way to join us and I just happened to notice a yellow glow behind me.
Really, I feel like all event drops should go straight to inventory like the world boss event kills

Yes event drops should absolutely go straight to inventory, I agree. If the guaranteed bag drops and you miss it and it decays, then your are SOL it appears. Unless you continue to grind it out and get a drop via the item drop luck table. I have 2 60s on different servers, so far I have gotten 2 masks and 0 chests. Im hoping I dont miss the chests, I should be getting the guaranteed drops tomorrow or the next day.

I’m at 350 rabbit kills, for science I will drop a chest and let it despawn and see what happens
Ok just an update on this, the “per event” thing I can confirm at least.
Wife was around 700ish rabbits and got this current event’s chest, she had the last year’s one already, so just keep having at it.
