Ranged meta is so bad

Yes, mage has been the most OP weapon in the game since beta. Thanks for exposing your experience and knowledge level. Keep trying to gaslight everyone I am not going to go through your post history.

You showed a post of me saying light mage cannot compete with melee, never did I say to mega nerf those weapons, you just don’t get it.

My only problem with bows is haste on dodge, there is no reason why bows should have it.

Closing the gap on range players is already a mountain to climb, but chasing them across the whole map is just dumb

“Ranged weapons are 100% more op than melee weapons. Have been since the beta.”

Yes mage weapons are ranged weapons.

If you are talking about war, obviously theres no ONE weapon thats best, you need a variety. But in OPR, 100% ranged weapons have been OP. You are ignorant to say otherwise. You can literally do damage while not receiving any in return. Melee does not get such a luxury.

It’s a game of cat and mouse, but the mouse is faster and can shoot you while you are chasing them.

Honestly I think they should keep their damage.
They just need to hard nerf their survivability.

Same for heals. Healers are actually in a good place with the nerf to fortify. They are easily killable now.

PvP needs to go towards more team dynamics.

Bruisers control an area and peel.
Schitzos kill ranged and mage which can deal hard effective damage with full uptime.
Healers keep everyone alive
Mages AoE clumps and helps CC Peel
Dex deal hard single target consistent damage

Bruisers should be peeling for your healer which everyone should be trying to kill.
Schitzos kill the dex and healers
The mage then helps cc or peel for the dex/mage while nuking a clump or killing the schitzo. They do nothing the best but add the greatest variety in the composition.

That is dynamic gameplay. Currently mages and range can play super independently with no repercussions so each role starts to feel invalidated in what they should be providing value wise to the team.

Nope, prior to the fortify nerf a bruiser with a healer can absolutely demolish everyone on a point and capture it against many players. You probably just aren’t that good at the game because you don’t have the time in that most players do that never quit.

wow lmfao of course in a 2v1 when they have a bruiser and a healer they will win xD like wtf lol that’s hilarious you think thats a valid point that proves anything.

If this game requires you to have 5k hours in order to know how to play, no wonder we’re struggling to get new players. It couldn’t be that the balancing of this game is completely skewed to favor only certain builds (range) no way

I do think this is one problem.

There is no way a new player, particularly a new melee player, can play OPR. They will get deleted and not know why. They will quit and never come back.

yea i’m helping a friend rn but the thing is it’s so hard to get them to memorize every cause of death because there’s a bunch of factors that added up to their fatality. New World is an AMAZING pvp game but it’s depth is pretty hard to master

Oof I feel bad for them. New World equal spend 1,500+ to grind for PvP gear power. Then spend about 20 hours max to fully understand the simplistic combat system.

Again, if you think New World’s depth or the lack of is hard to master. Then it’s no wonder why New World is the only PvP scene you can enjoy.

Now imagine playing other MMOs and PvP games that have over 20 different ways to build and play each class competitively. Now imagine every class being able to counter build and outplay all the classes if the player skill is equal. Now imagine the MMO or PvP game being so skill based that someone on a 15 hour brand new account can absolutely crubstomp someone on a 20,000 hour account with multiple sets of Legendary armor and weapons. Is the picture getting clear enough for you.

What I’ve said above, is why mainstream PvPers mostly stay away from gear grinders like New World. If New World want it’s PvP scene to compete for PvPers in other MMOs and PvP games. New World is going to have go back to being a complex skill based PvP MMOs. Where every PvPer can easily farm the gear to be competitive with multiple different builds. Lets say anything more than 30 hours of farming for the means to get competitive as single PvP gearset is too unappealing to the mainstream MMO PvPer let alone competitive eSports PvPer.

Most healers don’t wanna heal toxic melee players who don’t like healers. There is that

so the solution is simple, remove or nerf the broken healing, buff melee sustain to make it healing independent.

Sorry i’m not understanding the thesis of this. Are you saying 1. that the investment to pvp is too great to attract a large amount of competitive players to buy the game (if so i’d agree 100%)? And 2. that the combat should be less gear dependent and more skill dependent as to counter the time it takes to be competitive in pvp?

If the second point is true then I definitely think the OPR gear being able to get upgraded to potential BIS is a great start, however, even so there’s no way i’m grinding a new character to 60 just to start another grind for Gear Score, then REPEAT the process for BIS gear rolling all the while getting smashed by people who’ve already done it.

So I definately would agree it needs to reward skill based behavior more than gear. As a side note I think the majority of New World players are PVE central and is generally what they enjoy about the game. The PVP is simply a reason to KEEP getting better gear to fight against other people who enjoy the grindy aspect of the game to keep everyone max lvl entertained

I personally play because I like the fact that it takes so long to grind gear and it feels so meaningfull to gear up and get good at the game to be better than others

Correct!

Which is why the few players left playing New World vigorously defend the game.

PvP scenes across the gaming sphere that emmulate this type of PvP are very low populated, if not dead. Because most mainstream PvPers fight to see how their skill compares to another. And not just how much free time or money they can throw at getting overpowered gear. To stomp those who don’t have the time and or money to compete with them. This might be fun for the select few no-lifers and RMT buyers. But for most of the PvPers it gets very old really quick. Which is why now Korean grinders implemented some PvP venues. That are specifically for low gear players only and or equalized standardized PvP arenas.

As someone who’ve spent over 12,000 hours playing BDO.

Honestly, the immense grind wouldn’t be too bad if the gameplay and the character visuals was interesting in New World. However, compared to other multiplayer grinders. New World has a very barebones combat system and one of the worst character customization engine in the genre. So it makes the immense grind for PvP power in New World even less appealing for mainstream MMORPG fans, let alone PvXers.

Just my two cents, on why as long as New World continues down this path. It will alway be a niche MMO in the already niche MMO genre.
