I am fully over it because it is so much more fun harassing people with ice gauntlet, understandable that it is a bug and unintended. Yet, in the video where developers talk about future plans, they are targeting sure things with priority because it significantly affects players’ experience. And this bow’s bug is on the frontlist. Old bloods nowadays are just complaining to cover up their incompetence. I am simply taking an example of this fix to clarify why people are complaining and allow developers to wonder whether they had the right approach for their decisions in future planning, which is entirely the purpose of feedback. No need to be offended.
Meh, every weapon feels clunky at the moment so they really need to fix their netcode before making individual changes to weapons. They won’t do it though. That takes too much work (understandably) so it’s easier to just satisfy the players that complained about this bow thing. People will still miss hits on bow players and find something else to call out.

It is indirect nerf to the bow, considering how clunky the weapon will be without developers fixing their code at the current stage.
Bow Main and welcoming the Bow Jump removal. It was just not fair for other weapon player. Gonna be honest sometimes.
As a bow user since Alpha 1, that jump cancel was a major bug, and I’m glad they fixed it.
I have to disagree with you on this one. Its not just bow jumping, its jumping in general to avoid damage states. If a player with a spear or etc comes and swings their spear at you to trip your feet, if you jump you simply don’t fall down - even if you take damage. this also happens with many other weapons.

without jump there is only 50% chance to win against other bow player no matter his skill.
just pure luck nothing more since all you need to do is aim were he dodges and shot is secure. exact same for everyone and everyone can do.
with jump you can shoot or choose not to shoot adding another dimension in the game.

Yeah this is an extreme nerf to bow mobility. Then if they release that light armor cant cancel the recovery from a dodge, no1 will use light armor either.
Making the game more clunky, slower, and basically turn based combat style is just HORRIBLE
if you could actually dodge immiadetely after a bow shot then probably be fine, problem is there is a long buffer window / recovery period after shooting an arrow that is just ridiculous

Jumping gives you no immunities to damage. It’s the shooter who couldn’t know where to pre-aim their shot. For the sake of immersion, sweeping is the ability that undercut enemies’ legs, and jumping does counter it. This principle applies to Shockwave(WH) - you can dodge sweep with shockwave(no dmg).
I used to play a game a long time ago called gunz the duel. there was so many little things with the game that you could do that would animation cancel your character . When you combined all of these together it created an entirely new way to play the game that was super flashy super fast and super fun. Animation canceling was the only reason that game was ever played. Not every bug needs to be fixed. Some bugs add another element of skill to the game that good players can utilize to dominate if they take the time to learn them. Whats so bad about this? The bow is the weapon that players gravitate towards who want a challenge. Why not reward the high skill cap when compared to other weapons in the game with atleast a fun playstyle? we all know the devs use the mage weapons so they will always be best but let the bow be relevant to those of us that want to master it.

Most of the people calling animation cancels an “exploit” are very likely the same ones that are too dogwater at the game to be able to benefit from the additional inputs. Obviously they advocate against it since they believe a game with 3 abilities, a left click, and a right click is already too difficult to navigate in pvp; add anything more to the complexity of the current turn-based combat system and their 4 braincells might just implode.
I just played bow on ptr for a few hours dueling. A few things
- You can still hop and shoot, but it’s incredibly inconsistent. There is a sweet spot right before you pull your bowstring all the way back, where your accuracy indicator tightens fully, that you have a chance to jump and release. If you mistime it before the sweet spot you shoot air, if you tighten it too much, u get locked in animation and become a turret. Could still be useful, but gonna take a lot of practice to get the timings down.
*Mages are much harder now. If you get locked in your animation more than once you kinda just die if they have aim, since they fire fasters.
*Didn’t get to duel any gaxe/hammer, or gaxe/hatchet as it was mostly mages, or bow boys, or VG/IG.
*Overall feels very clunky, like the musket does now after the nerf. Definitely very unenjoyable compared to where bow was before, and I think the skill ceiling is much lower now (maybe that’s what they want?). I have a feeling you won’t see a lot of bow players anymore because the animation lock is just very very bad, and you move like a turret when ur aiming (unless you’re trying to jump shoot, which is incredibly inconsistent). Bow v Bow feels very very lame now. Good luck with Musket players.
The projectile size & speed need to be increased on the bow.
