Maybe intentional, maybe bug, not sure. Rapier since day 1, some of the interactions I’ve noticed lately I thought were worth mentioning publicly.
Riposte (parry) triggers off of spells/skills that directly interact with the player (as intended).
On skills that have multiple effects riposte can act weird.
Example: War Hammer skill - Shockwave: This skill has multiple effects, the damage, the stun and possibly a taunt. If this skill is used against an opponent who is riposting, the riposte will trigger ONLY if the opponent is hit by the “damaging” portion of the AoE. If the opponent is within stun range (I think the taunt range is identical) but NOT within damage range, they will be stunned negating the riposte entirely.
There are numerous skills that share similar interactions. I don’t know if this mechanic is intended, but it feels weird when playing. I suspect the skills with multiple effects (such as shockwave) are causing the interaction (game logic reads the stun portion of the ability as not an attack maybe?) as riposte is fairly consistent against basic attacks and single-effect skills.
Would be killer if a dev or anyone official could clarify if these interactions are intended and we should learn to play around them or if they are a bug of sorts and we should expect change.
Please feel free to roast me if I’m making any obvious mistakes or share if you know of any specific ability interactions that work weird like this.
