Rapier serving its true purpose being a dps weapon!

I have some concerns when it comes to the variety of builds in game. Simply said, there are several builds which are so deeply rooted into the PvP that nothing except a general rework will move them. Such being the GA/WH, LS/Rapier, IG/VG and IG/BB.

Of course all combinations are possible to have some fun around and do stuff and many of them are working with success in the right hands. However, after more than 3.5k hours, there is one build from weapons that never … really never, did anything compared to the others. I’m talking about the Rapier bleed build.

Since start Rapier was used wrongly by all players due to its mobility and high chance of escaping a death threatening situation. A lot of people hated the weapon for that, as it was not the DPS weapon which it should have been, but instead it was a zooming stick that was giving all kinds of mobility. This all was provided by the Grace skill tree and people were never even aware about the bleed. Why ? Because a simple purifying toast on your earring will clear all bleed stacks and the burst potential is gone. Also by the time you apply 2 stacks of bleed (at least to do some burst) the regeneration potion will be back off CD.

If we have to be realistic about, the weapon should have been build in a way that provides a high burst of dmg for short period of time with close to no defense on the other side of the scale. Kind of a glass cannon build but in mele range and not a musket. The problem here is that Tondo is a spell with slow animation which cannot be stopped or cancelled once started. It also has a super small range which makes it a death ticket for the user. So how and what have to be changed in order to make this build effective and actually used to its purpose ? It’s really simple and I’m amazed how nobody brough it yet for over a year.

Change the spell Tondo from animation based skill to an active ability with the below effects :

  • When active gain Bleeding cuts on your attacks. Each hit done by the Rapier while Bleeding cuts is active will apply a bleed stack to the opponent for 5 seconds. Every stack of bleed will renew the debuff time. (Stacks 3-4 times)

Just with a simple change (above) the Rapier will become super deadly and truelly to its name assassin weapon. Currently it is not in a DPS section, not in a TANK loadout, and yes … it is in HEAL loadout for the zooming :slight_smile:

If you change Tondo to work in this way, it will give a lot of outplay potentials for high burst damage on targets which burned their cooldowns. Of course the other spells of the same skill tree have to be amended as well and toned down, as if they remain the damage will be too high to handle.

In order to keep it simple I will stop here, as I don’t want to repeat my self over and over for same stuff. However, I’m open for discussion about this, as I believe it would be a great change and finally this weapon can be used for its true purpose.
