Re: Dev Mini-Map Post

previously all devs have stated status quo is fine until we change stance and notify you.

this dev post can be classed as notification they all now break ToS.

thus the 24h COULD have already started

Where is this?

the api doesnt have any node data in it so any node data breaches the

Information to be used for display, even within the limitations expressed below, must come from the Overwolf API,

It was updated by Lane not Luxendra so it’s not notice.

How do you know that?

Its impressive how many words Amazon continues to use to not be clear about the current state of the addons. It all reads like they still haven’t tried them.

By the strictest reading, anything with a graphical user interface would break that rule, because the data for the frames and such wouldn’t be coming from the game (and if they did come from the game, it would no longer be an addon).

i get what your saying and i agree, but i would argue that a UI image isnt really classed as game data :stuck_out_tongue:

If static images pulled from a file to frame the map and indicate player position are fine, why is a static map not from the game a problem?

Honestly it’s just better to disallow all addons.
AGS shouldn’t have to waste their time making subjective calls or trying to determine if someone is using an addon that does more than allowed. Just turn it all off and redirect resources to actually catching cheaters and exploiters, and fixing bugs.

From day one the New World player base has shown they can’t be trusted to not try to cheat and exploit whenever they can.

This stance would require them to redirect resources towards detecting if these specific addons are even being used, which would require a lot more effort from people working on more important things.

Neither is a UI image with node labels pasted on it. :stuck_out_tongue:

the image no, the location of that image = data :stuck_out_tongue:

I can paste an image anywhere on the map. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Either a static image is fine or it isn’t. You can’t argue the map itself isn’t against the rules but nodes are. Both are images external to the game.

So either your minimap needs to be a black circle with an arrow in the middle or it can be a map with any markers that are placed statically on it being ok. Take your pick

i never said a map from an external source was allowed. as i have yet to read it anywhere.

kay has said you can have player location on a map but then said that map couldnt be from an external source and as there is no way to get a map from an internal source ??? i guess maps are not allowed.

I haven’t used overwolf yet but I can tell you that based on the devs recent posts I will likely start doing so. It’s such a huge QoL upgrade to not have to look back and forth between monitors. I’m not worried about a ban until they update their stance and I wouldn’t expect anyone else that’s using it to be worried either.

To me it’s pretty clear when they talk about nodes being visible they mean live nodes. The compass displays live nodes and they specifically use the compass as the example.

Pulling data means to pull from the game. At this point after all this contention on the forums it’s very hard to believe none of them.attempted to use it to make a clear determination that it breaks their rules.

My eyes are constantly pulling player position from the game without using the API, and my brain is providing node location data from memory. Am I in violation of TOS?
