You dont have stamina to doge more than 3 cc skills. If you fight premades of 3-5 ppl u die bacuse one of them will land cc and then rest will chain and gg.
Where is your team during this? Why aren’t they helping? Should you be able to beat a 5 man premade by yourself? Or should a 5 man premade not be able to kill you?
Im saying that chain cc should not be as effetive as it is. Try to do anything about 3x VG scream into your face.
1st grav well = entomb
2nd grav well = ice shower = they have to go all the way around and can also put down ice storm to slow them
3rd grav wall = if your VG scream them if your rapier Fleche if firestaff = burn out
their is so many ways to counter grav well and so freaking easy to get out roots are just broken u cant do shit ure just gonna get ganged from a few other ppl when they see ure rooted

The Vortex change is ridiculous. It is a heavy pull in the middle than you get a 1.5 root (with passiv), minewhile you get 3 times 1400 dmg and in the end a 60% slow. Don’t forget the reap splash dmg of the user.
I do all the time. Its called i-framing and using your defensive cooldowns at correct times. You have to do that for any CC including Gravity well, sweep, POD, shockwave, iceshower, leaping.
Yes adding diminishing returns would be the most horrible change ever implemented into this game. We can have GA with 10+ seconds of stun, slow, and root immunity chasing people with blood lust. Sounds fun and balanced.
The first iteration of the gravity well on the PTR was actually fine. The skill is extremely easy to hit. Noobs were just crying because you could walk inside it but not dodge based on some dude youtube video that showed a guy walking out. Its funny though because those same noobs cry about ice shower which you can walk but not dodge after for 3 seconds.
Yes but the new version is just broken. Rooting a whole group on Distance is just ridiculous.

Yeah its basically on the same CD as ice shower, but it can be thrown forward, is a large AOE, sucks people into the center and roots them, then stops them from dodging and blows up on them for big damage.
Meanwhile we have these guys actually sitting here and saying ice shower needs to be nerfed. I honestly get so annoyed by these type of clueless players on the forums lol.
I agree the game is fairly close to balance. I also agree a lot of people’s complaints feel misinformed or formed from a lack of experience.
It feels equally bad to be caught in a hard cc by spear or wh on bow, but you can recover. As soon as you are hit you can roll away or even roll away early. A root will remain for the entire duration.
Evade shot will not release you from a root. You will do the skill on the spot. Evade shot is not an I frame either. Evade or riposte on rapier would save you though or as you mentioned beserk on hatchet etc…
I haven’t heard an argument as to why anyone feels roots are balanced. I know you feel IG wouldn’t be viable without them, which tells me you must think it’s stronger than a stun.
I appreciate we are essentially arguing 2 different things here. You are arguing a weapons balance and I am arguing roots, though the 2 intertwine I feel like we are sort of talking past each other on this one.
I hope if they do adjust roots the IG remain a very viable weapon ![]()

Ice shower only roots for the first second. If you use any of those escape abilities the root ends before the animation ends and you get out. I was specifically talking about shower and not scream. This works for many things including evade shot and fleche. This is why you can evade shot out of gravity wells even though you are rooted in the beginning.
Also what you are saying simply isn’t true. When you sweep an opponent they can’t just roll away. When a rapier hits a riposte stun you cant just dodge out. A heavy backstab is always coming after. In the case of the spear usually another CC is coming. You can only get away when receiving the breakout dodge.
I actually don’t understand what your argument is. is your argument that no CC form should be the best in the game? That would be nonsensical to me and your argument is actually self defeating because if they made roots break on damage then stuns or staggers would become the best CC in the game with nothing comparable and need to be nerfed. My argument isn’t just about weapon balance. It is that if they remove roots or heavily change the way they work they would need to completely rework every weapon as things like GA, Spear, Bow or any weapon where fluid movement is desired would be completely over performing if not downright broken.
The only way to kill a competent medium dex player with rapier currently is to land a long root on them while they have riposte on CD. With your proposed changes nearly all dex builds would become unkillable.
What your guys “counterplay to roots” arguments fail to understand is the root is the actual only counterplay mages have against most classes. So you want to remove mages only counterplay verses countless weapons. Without this ability there is no way for them to secure kills and would result in mages just getting steamrolled by pretty much any weapon.
If you don’t believe me I would be more than willing to duel anyone for gold any amount they want with me using GA/Spear/SnS them using IG and they must stop all attacks until the root ends after any damage every time I get rooted to simulate your proposed changes.
What is most disgusting about those two cheater weapons(yes i said it) is lag they cause …
My company lost one of our territories simply because attackers all carried IG/VG’s as secondaries…it was like watching Eve Online slideshow battles.
Until AGS finds way to deal with this lag they should do something about leagal cheating with lag spikes.
Let me start off by saying, I think GA/WH is in a good spot right now. I think IG is in a good spot right now minus ice spike damage.
And now the incredible VG. This is the most broken weapon in the game period. The perks on the tree are insane and OP. Debuffs, lifesteal, roots and oblivion boosts. I don’t even know what else I’m missing it’s so good. Just nerf this weapon pls.

This is why I suggested that current roots become hard cc and then there is no best in the game. Perhaps mages would need to be further compensated, I’m not sure…
I think I’ve made my argument pretty clear as to why I don’t think they are balanced. I think they need some form of counter, maybe they shouldn’t break on damage… Maybe a better idea exists, but no one is suggesting one. Perhaps even if abilities could remove you from them? I really don’t know… but in their current state the only option is to avoid them. Which is already effective against every ability in the game. Except you can recover from any other ability in the game. More times than not you will die to a root.
You can roll out of stuns early. Not 100% sure what governs the break mechanic, but sometimes you can break early and sometimes not. Regardless after taking one hit you regain full control of your character.
Depending what kind of mage you play there are other counters. Certainly there aren’t any less than I have on bow/spear.

imo it was meant to deal with unkillable tanks healers and paladin builds which had no counter
