When you hit something in new world, you can feel your strike. There is ājosslingā, there is the feeling of the impact of your hit. Likewise, when you are hit in NW, when your stamina is broken, the sound & feeling of impact is there. There is āWEIGHTā to the combat.
In WoW, FF14, Aion, BDO, Tera, there is no weight. You just spam weightless/impactless abilities that in some cases look pretty yet have absolutely no weight to them at all.
That is where NW has weight in the combat. You would not want too much weight, then it would be tedious. You would not want NW to play like Dark Souls. A little pinch of that is fine; goes a long way to differentiate it from clicker-mmorpg, which all the other games are.
New World has no game you can directly compare it to - it is in a league of its own. It is the most modern MMORPG on the market right now & nothing even compares.
There is no MMORPG that compares to new world, today, that you can play right now.
There is no better sound engine or sound design in any other MMORPG, today, that you can play right now.
No better art, no game has environment detail like New World. Other games all look like old school game worlds, baron, lacking detail, simple vertex blended paths, where new world has been modeled like a modern game, like a GTA map or Witcher 3 map. Completely different world; NW is the only current MMORPG that has 2 or 3 generations of art in advance to anything else out there.
Even BDO is nowhere near as graphically mature as New World. BDO is like a finely polished turd in terms of the level of environmental fidelity & attention to detail.
I cannot think of any MMORPG I can compare any aspect of NW to. I can think of single player RPGs. Witcher. It looks better than anything Bethseda has ever released under the Elder Scrolls name, especially ESO, which looks like a PS1 game with slightly better texture images & a higher render resolution, just like the rest of the MMORPGs aside from NW do.
