Ive done about 6 expeditions so far and havent run into any issues with other players so far, but I also came from WoW where dungeons became an e-sport that was more focused on Raider.IO scores than fun. The level of toxicity there makes a lot of people not want to ever do dungeons.
AGS should follow the Genshin Impact model – everything is soloable. You have your own world. You manually invite people into your world if you want help or if you want to play with your friends.
Right away you put the control in the player’s hands – don’t like how someone is acting? Kick them. You didn’t really need them anyway, they don’t have to ruin your fun.
Similar with Fallout76 and their “private worlds” feature – put control of who you want to associate with into your hands.
Just so you know, no top people are grinding Amrine, so definitely don’t take his word as gospel. His mom probably didn’t give home dessert that night. I’m sure you were awesome.
Define overthinking…
His comment was just a joke. Designed to be taken as a joke.
People (especially this new batch of young people) have begun reading words in their own voice, making assumptions about how another person sounds and/or means something they said.
My response in chat would have been “oh my god I know it’s terrible, an entire extra 30 seconds of my life I’ll never get back.”
Dude. he was joking. Simple as that. Your entire post was energy wasted on something that didn’t even exist.
Think about that.
I remember once I did Starstone as a level 60 with a bunch of lower levels then me just because I like dungeons and getting some extra gold and territory standing doesn’t hurt.
So everyone was happy at the end. I was tanking the whole thing and it went smoothly. But one of the dps that was like 40 ish wasn’t pleased. He said we took way too long to finish the entire thing. He was very upset lmao
I pointed out he still level 40ish and shouldn’t even talk. He got upset and said he had other characters level 60 and yaadee yaadee lalala. Didn’t gave a fuck about what he was saying lol. Everybody else was happy they had a tank that carried.
Honestly don’t give a fuck about ragers they will always rage no matter what. Only pay attention to constructive criticism and ppl saying you could do those things better. Everything else is just rage talk. Ppl be ass show them dick they gonna plug it out quickly lol.
As a fellow anxiety sufferer, especially when doing group content, I completely understand every word you wrote. However, I have played a few MMOs now and realise that I have to not let myself overthink everything (it sounds like you also do this)
But remember:
Some people are just sarcastic and unless they use a smiley etc… sarcasm can be missed and thought of as criticism.
Some people are just toxic and love to belittle or make others feel bad.
From the sounds of it, your expedition went perfectly. Please don’t let others get you down or ruin your game experience.
My last two MMO’s were LOTRO and ESO and group content was a lot friendlier, dungeon random groups generally always said “heya” to each other and at the end, it was "tyfg or GG and “cya” I have noticed in NW… there is rarely any of that… I hope that in time the NW community will gain some manners?
Anyway, I have rambled way to long… Good luck in your gaming and remember, other peoples bad behaviour is a reflection on them and NOT you
And yet you are also writing essays in reply… lol
I did somewhat the same for Dynasty. Overleveled, overequipped, watched guides. Felt the responsibility as a tank to perform well. And procrastinated because I had the wrong assumption it was difficult.
All went well.
But the point is that the only thing you can do is prepare well, you haven’t control over other people. There gonna be assholes, there gonna be toxic kids, but recognize they are out of your control. Not your responsibility. Not your problem.
I admire your preparation. Continue that and you will remain a valuable asset to any expedition team. And getting blue gear at such a early lvl is impressive. Well done, you did good, especially because your team wasn’t over levelled.
Hopefully you won’t be as nervous next time. Not everyone is rude. Some appreciate the game and getting the run done trouble free. I hope you find them people.
Good luck in your endevours and keep a grinding.
This is without a doubt the most over exaggerated PvE experience I’ve heard
BUT
I do admire your seriousness towards something you’re unfamiliar with but it really shows your skill level if you had to prep this much for what a lot of people consider an introductory experience to dungeon’ing in NW. No one cares about speed that much at that stage of the game and that guy was just immature or trying to be funny and you missed the joke, end of.
All the best to you on NW but the main game is at least x4 harder than this with or without prep and I’m not trying to intimidate or blow my own trumpet, I’ve been playing high ranked league/Tekken and korean mmo’s for well over 10 years.
Bad parenting. Some people are just not raised correctly. In game and IRL.
Hopefully you don’t care about some writed words of some idiot
People are different , he can’t understand you enjoy time in game lol
Don’t let those toxic SoBs get to ya. Unfortunately, every MMO has those bad apples. Stay positive and always celebrate your achievements.
Yes you’re right, your comment does breed insecurity. I’ve had to deal with your kind a few times while I was guild master. “Pulling your weight”, by whom’s metric? What if you’re a hard caster and the boss requires a lot of movement? What if you’re a melee and the boss has loads of close ranged AoE attacks? That’s just 2 scenarios that affects your precious DPS meter. So when you say “pulling your weight” you mean “If I deem you beneath me I can say what I want”. Thanks for proving everything wrong with DPS meters and why they have no place what so ever in any game, ever.
I’m glad I’m not the only one, in some morbid way.
I basically don’t do dungeons, it’s odd because I used to do them fine, but the drama rarely involving me! I was disappointed that the main quest was in a Dungeon. Somehow I managed to do Amrine because I went there without reading the quest and didn’t know it was a dungeon and as I got there I was invited to a boost. Not a paid one, some level 60 was just bored and I happened along at the right time.
Now I need to do another one… so I’ve dacked in the main story and instead focus on crafting. MMO’s should be solo friendly imo. If people only had to team up through choice it would be better for everyone.
Makes you appreciate FFXIV a lot more, doesn’t it?
And building a nice community isn’t that hard - all you need to do is to have right policies in place:
-No DPS meters in chat (all the people screaming “you don’t like meters 'cos you suck” can go f themselves)
-Forceful “advice” is bannable offence (check out the new policy from Square Enix with specific examples)
-0 tolerance for harassment, racism etc across the board, dealt with manually not semi-auto
Apply this policy for few months and all the shitheads will leave to other places (and yes, maybe some “kewl” elitists will leave also but its not exactly a big loss either)
The one thing that makes me laugh isn’t the fact that people make these posts demanding changes from Devs, it’s the raw fact alone that people expect these MMORPG releases to be any different for the first few months, I mean look at world of warcraft there are still gold sellers spamming every world years after release lol it’s never going to stop unless there’s a specific algorithm that blocks specific messages to be sent but then they just reword it and keep doing it, on top of that keep seeing people complaining about “lack of content” well yeah you blow through the level grind in 2 days expect there to be no content - being max level in any MMO tends to be that way doing the same dungeons or just doing PvP while waiting for the next big update, like yeah again look at games that have been out for years like WoW, it’s still the same system
Or because you can’t count on being able to find people. I have been looking for people to do an quest, that turns out, you have to kill 2 elites, that are together. But the quest dosen’t let you know. Because apparently, that is above the intelligence level of the delopers, to add it, to the quest. I have been there 2 times now, for kills. But because the game is so poorly designed, i still haven’t gotten credit for a kill. I’m level 60, yet i take about 40% damage from one of them. The game is a pile of garbage, designed by people that shouldn’t be working on games like this
DPS meters are objective proof of whether or not I’m wasting my time. As you’ve clearly proven, lack of meters doesn’t prevent poor behavior; There’s no reason that guy should be complaining when the content was smoothly cleared.
However, if people aren’t contributing to a run and refuse to take constructive criticism, it’s not my job to bang my head into a wall hoping they suddenly start performing. If I join a random group doing a dungeon with corrupted mobs and the DPS are using Ice Gauntlets and Warhammers, it’s really easy for me to tell why things aren’t going smoothly, but DPS meters make it objectively clear for all if anyone isn’t pulling their weight.
As a byproduct of missing metrics, New World’s PvE isn’t exactly challenging, which is a shame because they’ve sacrificed so much quality elsewhere to try and deliver PvE content.
You missed thread? xD
