Small disclaimer, I am a hardcore PvPer who also streams alot of war content currently, so my opinion will mainly be based on a player who plays many hours per day
As we’re approaching to the new update for the 3v3 arena, we’ve recently discovered a daily cap to the Azoth salt and mainly PvP XP. Currently we’re going to heading towards the same time gate issue as dungeons/mutations.
Personally I had planned for the release of the 3v3 as form of endless content I’m able to grind out on stream.
This change hurts everyone, both casuals and hardcore players. Even the consideration of a weekly cap would be off-putting. Nothing is wrong to allow players to have an endless goal to grind out and the PvP XP would of been awesome to allow us to progress in PvP ranks and eventually leaderboards for ranked?
Currently the only form of “endless” content are PvE mutations, meaning I only go into m10s for a potential at bis gear to sell or use for myself. Other than that I only have Wars, which are limited and most other players don’t even get to partake due the flaws in the system.
I’m currently stacked up to 130k shards with no use to spend unless I get a bis upgrade for my speed run ward sets/PvP sets (which are all 625) - m10s also extremely boring to stream…
Back to the main point of this post, please consider removing the PvP XP cap all together. As from a content point of view it made total sense, as there are ranks to progress once you’ve hit 60.
Even in the future and PVE track is added (which I highly recommend) there shouldn’t be a limit. Allow us dedicated players to keep grinding.
Once again, please consider removing the cap. If the cap has been removed, could we be made aware too?
Also my stream of my war vods if anyone is interested!
I strongly agree, 6 of the best players in my guild will not reinstall the game because of that cap. They stacked 100k shards in m10s they finish in 20 mins, did hundreds of OPRs and wars. Believe me, they will not hit a damned oricalchum rock in their lives again; now you restrict pvp. Wars are already hard to get in except for the 4 largest companies on the server.
Now you add some cool content and want to limit it’s rewards.
Stop putting limits to our fun please or players will get it elsewhere.
Sorry if it does sound too direct, but you act like the mum of a teenager telling him/her that playing for too long isn’t good for his/her eyes.
I’m not sure if you’re aware, but this daily cap limites all PvP. Take a casual player for example with the proposed cap changes… They will log on one day for a small amount of time and won’t even come close to their cap and other days they will hit their cap, get bored of 2 daily OPR and 3v3 and log off.
Then you have the hardcore player myself, I will login each day, hit the cap and still be ahead because I login almost every day.
Which explains why I mentioned the issue with caps. I don’t see any reason to add a cap, it’s just time gating a semi rewarding rank system.
Hi Sambro91, thank you for coming to the forums with your feedback. I will make sure to send a feedback report up the chain for you so that the Dev team is made aware of how players are feeling about this. Have a great day!
Every “reward track” needs a reward cap so to speak, be it daily, weekly etc (gw2 does this in various ways)
For starters it gives the Dev’s breathing space, and secondly tries to keep a balanced system of rewards for hardcore players and casuals alike.
For example currently shard rewards are too skewed towards high mutation, whilst I agree that should be the best and quickest way to earn large amounts of shards (M10 6k), OPR, PVP arena and maybe even wars should also offer some and in the case of OPR alot more than do at present. They can always CAP the daily amount earnt through OPR etc, not hard (say max 10000 a day from PVP stuff)
This would provide various play loops to upgrade gear efficiently, not just rely on M10 runs which are starting to get abit silly with requirements, full ward no VB etc. Try hards will be try hards.
Fortunately they’ve said it won’t be a hard cap.
After 3 hours of 3v3 Arenas it’ll be reduced to 1/3 of the max percentage. But still another gate… we shall see how the community feels about it after the patch drops.
