I see some issues with Expeditions, where players are getting their gear to 625 then just going all the way in pvp, which means that new players have less of a chance to complete expeditions now, but I am very confident that a lot of players have not reached M10 on all expeditions, so my idea is a way to somehow give a use even after late game to Umbral Shards.
So what if we can combine all refining sets(smelter, woodworker, weaver, tanner and stonecutter) into a single one, of gear score 600, which gives 2% yield when refining and it can be upgraded with umbral shards from 600 to 625 and give 3-4% yield, let’s say to get one of the refining sets to 625 will cost you around 100k umbral shards, so 500k in total. I mean I know for sure I won’t be buying a gear set for each individual refining set but I might be interested if it were just 1.
Also while the topic of refining I would also love to see an yield perk for gathering, the gathering sets have luck on them but we could just craft them with the perk items, it would be great if the specific ones could also have yield on them to make them extra special.
Seems like an interesting idea if it was implemented from the get-go. But you can’t just whisk away 55-60 pieces of gear from people and not think all the time spent getting them, buying them and using them can go to zero. So ideally, what would need to be done is figure out a compensation method for each person that has a full set of each gear and give them something in return that makes up for the the tens of thousands of gold spend either purchasing them or ten of hundreds of hours farming them. For anyone new, this is great and I see no ill effects, but for all the current and legacy players, what is the plan for what they currently have? This is every piece I currently have and you bet it took a while to farm them and some were so hard I found it was easier spending the 4-8k gold to purchase them instead. So for a whole set, you’re looking at anywhere from 15,000 to 40,000 gold. Multiple that by 10 and you’re looking at 150,000-400,000 gold in gearsets alone if you purchased them.
so I wasn’t talking about the current sets, I was thinking of crafting “tanner soul” out of a full tanner set, or a “smelter soul” out of the smelter set, get all 5 and craft them, or just have a recipe that requires one of each glove/helmet/etc of the refining set to craft that one.
I wasn’t talking about the crafting sets, those can stay in the storage shed for that one time a week/month that I find enough materials to craft stuff.
I proposed this idea because I already have all sets, and they are quite easy to get now with some of the sets being farmed in brimstone sands, some in other places quite fast rly. I’m only missing 3 pieces of the concocter set, the rest I pretty much farmed or bought(because lazy and cheap), and I get you saying 15-40k but let’s be real on the server I play the most expensive piece of crafting/refining is 10k and some of them sell for 10g and it’s a fresh start server.
I was thinking of just adding recipes to the outfitting station and the requirement to craft this 600gs refining gloves is one of each of the other refining set, so you will need to get the tanner, smelter, woodworker, stonecutter and weaver gloves combine them all into that 600gs beauty, it’s definitely a journey to get all of them.
I am talking only about the refining sets, the crafting ones are kinda meh, I mean you only take them when you have a big batch of stuff to do, and the town buff is active.
I also think that the shard costs of 100k per piece to max is quite good, currently people don’t really do mutations, even after the leaderboards, so it will be a good thing to farm, because let’s be real we are waiting for one thing cooldown materials and crafting mods to make roll for bis gear. Also something I noticed while doing mutations, the bis pvp gear keeps dropping o.o, maybe I’m lucky.
I like this idea, thanks for clarifying it out. It can take 5 sets and refine them down into 1 set. Less to manage overall after a bit of grinding and umbral shard input. Makes sense!

I like this. Because personally I have collected or crafted every set for Gathering, Refining, and Crafting. I saw another post regarding the trophies. Suggesting making a single trophy for each type (Gathering, Crafting, Combat). These two ideas would go great together IMO. Being an endgame goal to make the top tier Armor sets and trophies. It would also clear up a lot of my storage space.
