This has been thrown around a couple times. It would be relatively easy to implement too.
Please listen to your remaining playerbase.
Firstly PVE:
PVE players will not be affected by this change.
Choosing a faction could still have specific benefits, unique vendor clothing/armor, and lore attached. Choosing a faction would be more about what matches a players playstyle best rather than dictating who they can fight against.
Secondly PVP:
This changes everything for us.
It actually makes the entire game 10x better.
CONS OF REMOVING FACTIONS FROM PVP:
- would need to slightly adjust influence pushes (would have to make pushes be based on company influence rather than faction)
- no more colourful map (may need to outline territories better for visibilityâs sake
PROS OF REMOVING FACTIONS FROM PVP:
- so many times, we wish we could war against a strong company, but canât because âthey belong to the same factionâ
- many maps/worlds die because âits all owned by one factionâ
- people get tired trying to push influence against a faction with âway more playersâ
- massively increases who you can PVP against in open world combat
BONUS CHANGES:
- let PVP tents be destroyable
- let us put invasion and wars on different siege timers (allows us to war every 2 days rather than once every 4 days)
- company change cooldown = 7 days (to reduce shell companies)
- increase company cap to 150-200 players
Lots of people want this change, + a mock war game mode. Wars are the most fun PVP experience in the game. Let it happen more often.
