Reporting griefing

I realize this is not the correct format for reporting a player, however, I’ve had issues with AGS customer service before when going through the webticket mainly due to language barriers, the last time I used it to report someone I got a response back from an Amazon employee who directed me to the Lost Ark forum and where I could appeal my ban, although I dont play Lost Ark and I am not banned or had any issues related to this, thats why I am also making this forum post.

I want to report a player named LordNeradur on the Dry Tree server in the EU region.
This player was constantly breaking the Code of Conduct through griefing, he is going out of his way to pull mobs and run behind me and other players so that the mob attacks and interrupts said player when trying to gather resources, and then he steals/tries to steal the resource, I also confronted him in tells about this, informed him that he is breaking CoC and that I would make a recording of it, to which he replied by ridiculing and begging me to upload it so that he can watch it with his friends.

I am aware alot of people do this, and many might find me petty for even writing this report, but it is a very toxic behaviour that is only possible because of flaws in the game design, and by exploiting it you are infact very much griefing players.

The point of this post is simply to make one of the moderators on the forum aware and thus able to forward this post to someone able to do something about it, as I said, I have also filed a in-game report ontop of opened a web ticket, I just wanted to really make sure I do what I can for this information and video to actually reach someone who understands the context, rather than get a response regarding a completely different subject in a different game, that I dont even play.

I dont own paid for software that can crop video without adding a bunch of watermarks and whatnot, so I’ll just upload the whole 5 minutes that my shadowplay saves by default and you will have to fastforward to 4 minutes and 20 seconds and somewhere around there said player will come in to picture.
Worth to note is also that prior to this clip I saved he had already done this to me and stolen other trees, which is the only reason I am even competing with him for trees, however I never once pulled any mobs on him and if he tagged a tree before I did I move for the next.

I understand that you wish to report a player that has been griefing. Thank you very much for bringing this to out attention! In this case, If you haven’t reported them in-game already, I would advise that you use the Report a Player or company option in the game’s webpage in order to do report them. I understand that you have tried to report them via the Customer Service ticket before. Unfortunately we are unable to file reports in the forums.

Please don’t hesitate to take advantage of the “description” field by linking this post that contains the evidence that you have very kindly provided us with!

Thanks for responding swiftly, I have infact also used the in-game feature to report this player, and all of the evidence I provided in this thread I have also submitted in my webticket report of said player, I only made this thread to bring it to your attention aswell because I’ve had much more success in communicating with you guys than the actual customer support on the website, and I’ve seen in previous cases that although you cannot take action from here, you have forwarded threads like mine in the right direction, either way, thank you again for responding and have a good day!

You sir, are a little man baby. You both want the same resource and he outsmarted you to take it for himself. He isn’t persistently following you to harass you, he is simply farming resources and you happen to be farming the same thing. He can’t attack you since you are terminally PvE, so he’s using game mechanics to take the resources.

Wouldn’t it be great if AGS could communicate clearly what their position is about this kind of behaviour :blush:

Imagine if players players could make informed choices about their actions so that they could avoid being banned !

Lol, next time use your eyes before you comment, first of all I am PvP flagged and he is not (eventhough we are the same faction so it would not matter), second of all I am the one who tags the tree and he brings the mobs, third, read what I wrote describing his behavior, he was infact following me around for a good 2 hours, how would you know he was not? Lastly, if you check the screenshots he is literally begging me to upload this report and so I humored him, feel free to defend him for whatever reason bud, it makes no difference to me, like I said in my original post Im sure plenty of people will find this petty, that’s alright.
You’re really not doing yourself any favors when you come on here and spout total nonsense that is actually the exact opposite of whats going on in the VIDEO I uploaded for you.

I mean I’m not here to define anything for you, but what he is doing is literally the definition of griefing, either way, the matter has been handled already so I guess I don’t need to post more on here, it’s not like I didn’t expect to get bashed for making this post in the first place, hehe.

My question is:

How else do you expect someone who can’t fight you for it to compete with you for the same resources? Like if you’re both trying to get as much of it as possible. What is the realistic way to go about it that wouldn’t be considered “griefing”? Personally I don’t really think there is a way.

How about first come first serve? What do you even mean lol, tell me a single other mmorpg where you can efficiently steal resources from other players who are not of the opposite faction?

This should not be grieving at all, just a small “fight” for resource that will spawn back soon. If this is bannable, we would be missing quite huge part of the playerbase (not for this exact reason, but similar). You are just a bit too serious :smiley:

As an example of what I view to be on the same level with this: Musket players. Unless you know what to do, they might just take the fun out of your game. Isn’t that grieving?

It’s not competitive, competitive is something that makes sense and is designed in a way where you can compete, in this case you cannot, the person who pulls the mobs is the one in complete control and you cant do anything about it, exploiting flaws in the game design that also fall under the CODE OF CONDUCT of the actual game has nothing to do with competition, its you who struggle to understand my friend, haha.

I never brought up the word fair, I dont care about fair, I care about having my time wasted on tedious tasks in a computer game because some degenerate can’t deal with the fact he’s not getting every spawn of said resource and goes out of his way to exploit game mechanics to his advantage, I literally don’t care about anything else than having my time wasted so I report it when people find ways to waste my time in ways that break the CoC anyway.

I’m sorry, what code of conduct is that breaking? Lol he’s using a game mechanic. Maybe go farming in areas where there aren’t mobs that can attack?

I read the thread, I only saw that you were being attacked by mobs while gathering. I see nothing against code of conduct lol. Thats why there is mobs around large amounts of gathering nodes LOL. Literally how the game was designed

AGS Code of Conduct;
" Do not : engage in behaviors that reduce or disrupt the enjoyment of the game for others. This includes spamming chat, griefing, throwing matches, boosting, win-trading, trolling, or spoiling the game by sharing unreleased or confidential materials."

Definition of griefing;
grief-ing / noun - the activity of deliberately annoying other players in a game played online, or doing things that spoil the game for them.

Now that we cleared up whatever it is you struggle with when it comes to English, there are ofcourse different variations of griefing and not all type of griefing is bannable, however, when you also exploit broken game mechanics, such as being able to pull mobs and then stand behind someone who has nothing to do with said mob and does not have aggro on that mob, but said mob still attacks you since the player who pulled it makes sure you are in the line of fire to deliberately cancel your gathering, there is also a level of exploitation going on ontop of the griefing.

Furthermore, I don’t make the rules, I didnt write the code of conduct, I have no bearing on what the outcome for people who do these things is, but I do know people have been banned for it, and since I don’t necessarily want to waste my time on pointless things in a video game, but much rather just play to have fun, if someone is trying their hardest to waste my time and grief me for long peroids of time even after being asked to stop, then I’d much rather just report it and be done with it.

So, I guess what I’m really trying to get across to all these dense people jumping in this thread like “oM3gaLul get good y0u ovErseNsit1ve sn0wflake nothing wr0ng here kekw!11oneone!” is that your personal opinion of what griefing is doesnt matter, your personal opinion of me doesnt matter and whatever you type in this thread doesnt matter, haha.
I already reported the guy, what I reported is clearly in violation of the CoC without a doubt, and I provided evidence of it - I feel like that should be the end of the matter, but as I said in my original post, I fully expected the cringey twitchkids to jump on the bandwagon and call me out for it, I just struggle with fully grasping why, although my best guess is because they think I care?
Anyhow, this is probably as good as I can explain it, so there’s no point to continue this, understand the context and the facts, or don’t, your call internet.

This happens all the time in high level areas that I farm in. They do it to me and “and eye for an eye” I don’t come here to forums and cry to AGS about it. GET GOOD.
