I know the devs said in the July dev update that gear management functionality is not a priority, but it’s such a pain managing so many sets when the game is designed to use said sets for professions, pve, and PVP content. On the border frustrating. Bottom line: make it easier for us to either differentiate our gear in our inventory, or ability to custom choose our own sets.
If inventory: let us right-click on items and choose a “color” that helps us identify an item. Perhaps there are 5-10 colors possible and it adds a “highlight” to the item. But I would not add any rules or restrictions to how many times we use that color. This keeps it easy.
If set functionality: I recommend something “simple” that doesn’t have any rules like the Locker in the game Rust. Create a UI that has empty slots for our armor, jewelry, weapons, and consumables that we can drop items into, then we can add a name to this “set”. Next to it is a “swap” button that swaps everything into my inventory for those items. Everything would be bound to the same rules as the character select screen.
A “locker” could be stored in our houses. Perhaps the first tier has 1 slot, second tier 2, etc. Or you could also make this a function of the furnishing profession where they can build tiers or “dressers” that allow you to have these sets of whatever the player wants. I know others have asked for “dummies” in their home that act the same but display your gear set.
The only way to access this dresser is if I’m in any sanctuary zone, showing me all available sets.
Hey there, I can confirm that inventory management is something that our team is currently working on but we currently don’t have a timeframe for the release of that feature.
Let’s hope it is not as half assed as the TP filter (not being able to search for more than one perk on one item for example). Go download GW2 and get some inspiration please.
It would be really nice if you involved players in some of the dicision making for this new feature. Either by polls or a dedicated forum thread. It will have a huge impact on the day to day gameplay and I think it would be a good idea to get player feedback while its being developed
@MaxPerplex did you try clicking “only these perks” at the top left of the perk selection screen? It’s a drop down and it defaults to “any of these perks”. So you see a lot of stuff that only has one perk you chose. Change it and it will show you items with only the perks you chose.
SUGGESTION; In the meantime, players, I use a system of setting low gear scores to sets of armor (and even weapons which don’t have to be at 625) so that I can sort by gear score in inventory and easily group those items together to equip easily. For example, my logging luck stuff is all 601 GS, Skinning 614 GS, etc. - I know what you may say, “don’t waste Umbral Shards,” but the low number of shards to go from 600 to the lower scores is trivial and pays off with the convenience. I used to be the player in our group that took too long to get dressed because I could not find my pants, but those days are over now!
Cant do that with 6 sets of ward gear that all need to be gs 625. Or different pvp sets that you also want to be as high as possible. Refining/craftng gear is pretty easy to search for in the inventory since its all named the same
Really would like to see loadouts come out before the year’s end. Best thing we have is to place ward gear and dungeon specific weapons in separate cities for storage. I could easily see myself using between 10-20 loadouts and would pay the premium after receiving the first X for free. Skill pages, too! A lot to be desired here.
This has been my number one QoL improvement since I started playing almost a year ago. Playing with a group of IRL friends we switch roles a lot depending who is on and it is very difficult to keep track of your gear for different sets without being meticulous with keeping pieces together in different cities/outputs stashes. Really looking forward to this!
