I know several have posted on this, but being on high population servers has absolutely KILLED my ability to do any sort of Gathering…
I used to love mining and other gathering activities. I was on lower population servers and had little competition. After being folded into Camelot (US-West), I have not been able to do ANY gathering.
Literally at 5:30am in the morning I ran to a small “group” of Orichalcum ore nodes. Not even a good farming spot. I’ve tried all the other spots, so this is not a unique experience, literally TWO players sitting there at a small group of 4 Orichalcum Ore nodes, fighting over them… at 5:30 am.
This is getting out of hand. These resources respawning every 20-30minutes is pretty silly, combined with the fact how few spots there are to farm these resources (mainly t5).
Players have suggested multiple solutions, the two that I see the are:
1) Make all t5 resources “instanced/personal” to each player in the same way that Chests are.
If worried about server-stress, just make all t5 resources personal to each player (like chests) and reset daily at 5am. So players can only mine each resource node 1x per day, but EVERY t5 node is available to them.
2) Adjust the respawn time, and quantity of these nodes.
Rather than awarding [(Qty: 22-31)] from a Medium and having that respawn every 21m - 30m. Make these Ore nodes award like 5-10 Orichalcum Ore, and respawn every ~5 minutes. Which makes mining a more “active” ability rather than hitting nodes, and going AFK for 20-30 minutes. Having more “uptime” on mining, and balancing the quantity per node, means that bots/players cannot “lock down” resource nodes.
- Example is the Mines, has 30 Orichalcum Ore nodes, and literally ONE good player can hit all these on rotation. If you run up to Mines, and see an ore node spawn already mined, you have NO IDEA how long it will take to respawn. It could take another 30 minutes… It could be back in 1 minute. So it becomes extremely frustrating and causes players to just give up even trying.
