Most MMO dont have even 15k players …
I get the frustration of a server with a dwindling population, but if there’s one thing we should have learned from the past patches is AGS needs to slow down and release quality patches over rushed minimally tested/checked patches that break 5 more things. I want the merge as bad as the next person, but I’d much rather AGS hold it and make sure it is going to function well, then to rush it out and break something else and hurt the overall population.
Edit: I do think AGS could do more to communicate about the merges that are clear and concise, but if they get anything wrong in the communication, people will rage that they were lied to and scammed, etc. I’m sure there are some sort of solutions they could come up with, but that’s just an assumption on my part. I have never worked in any sort of field even close to game development.
If they mess it up, people will be mad. If they delay, people will be mad. If they communicate with specifics, and they can’t meet those exactly, people will be mad. It’s a tough call on which group you are most willing to anger. But, I’d bet they are just as eager to get these fixes out as we are to get them. They can’t keep releasing patches full of massive bugs.
That reply has nothing to do with what I said LOL
Troll or! Just quit, if serious. No one is forcing you to be here. Unless you are a botter and paid to be here, and troll the forums, then I guess it is your job.
Otherwise play something else, that is what I do if I don’t like a game. I play something else. It is that simple
Roughly a month and a half ago, we had 800 pop in my server and we are now down to about 150 and judging off global, half of what’s left are discussing about either transferring or quitting entirely.
I completely agree with OP because if this continues much longer without immediate news or timeline for us players to expect, at least in my world set, mergers are going to be useless.
We still have the second highest pop in our world set so I cannot imagine what the other worlds are going through but I’m certain players are quitting weekly on server here where no OPR or any T5 crafting is even available due to a dead server.
haha releasing a game in Alpha state, that doesnt help AGS.
I am playing 1 MMO alpha now, and this is a joke. Trust me…
I mean they are focusing on bugs, thats what they are doing, breating life to a game thats slowly dying because it was sooo not ready to be released.
Can you guys imagine if the games major bugs and exploits where gone? I mean 50% better… Imagine that.
1 company owning all major citys, ive seen them in every war, either its ALL GA, ALL hatchter, or ALL warhammer frostgauntlet, (you catch my point) And their biggest issue is what shall they do with the money.
Can you imagine if all this is fixed and the devs was focusing on getting wardrobes, improving content, UI like beeing able to see classes joining wars or beeing able to see the levels of your members i company chat. h
ahah Not even Message of the day is working correctly. Havent done since start, Its bad… Its realllly bad!
I am saying that the line in the patch notes you are referring to is a bad patch note. We are very much talking about the same thing…
Sorry, I didn’t refer to anything in the patch notes.
In fact, looks like NW will have merges implemented soon (from today’s patch notes). I have no idea what you are complaining about. You will get merges, how is that angering to you?
Nice argument
Planning the servers’s stuff so we don’t have half of em dead is AGS’s job, not ours.
I don’t understand what the discussion would be. It looked like this game was set up from the beginning to merge together when it started to shrink.
Worlds are in World sets already. Names are completely unique, not just to world sets but game and region wide. Limited to two characters per region. It all points to a plan for merging at some point.
They clearly can see what is happening on the low pop servers. Apparently they can measure and keep track of everything like if or how often OPR runs, and what people are doing or not doing in the game.
I must still have a token since I’ve not used one. I didn’t really want to transfer (and end up in a situation like a lot did and watch a 2nd server dwindle… or go large and have ques in primetime) I was just looking forward to staying on my server and seeing where we end up after a merge. Go along for the ride, see how it all plays out when you land in someone else’s backyard… with a bunch of people you already know. /shrug
Meanwhile I play a couple of alts on other servers in other regions to alter the way I did things, try other weapon combo’s as “primary” and just in case I end up needing a new main toon if the transfer server ends up not being fun.
Heh, I know what it it. They are worried they will finally come up with the great fix to all the things everyone hates and suddenly the 900k players will come back and swamp the servers and the ques will be endless and we’ll all be crying for server splits.
I think that this kind of shit should have been avaible since day 1 of launch. It doesn’t mean that we should get merges on the first week, but rather this should be in a working state for when its needed. While they “discuss” how to fix borderline unplayable servers that affect a majority of the playerbase many “discuss” how to leave. Good job!
Cause there are no discussions. They probably can’t solve some major issue with merges and are trying to get a little more time.
The things they claim and what is actually happening are very different things
Stop wasting your time with such posts they dont care what you are typing here in forum.
You have two options, play or stop playing if the game doesnt fit your wishes.
There have been hundreds of such posts and no body of the team ever cared about them.
And all It would take for them is to come out and say “guys, we found this and this major issues if we merge servers now, we need XX hours to get to the bottom of this and we’ll have an update for you by next Friday”
After this nobody would bother them tbh, because it shows communication, commitment and have semi-clear deadline attached to it.
Personally i understand that there is an issue with the teritorry and the discussion is what will happen in the merge server.
Meaning which Company from each server will own anything and what will happen with town upgrades.
Solution 1) All will be erased and the merge cluster server will start from the beggining.
(Very fast solution and i am not sure if people will be happy with that)
Solution 2) One of the servers of the cluster will be the base server and the other players will automatically join that. the who owns any territory and the upgrades are define.
(it will make a lot of people unhappy)
Solution 3) it will be a content bettween each server regarding a territory and the winner will keep the territory in the merge server along with their updates.
(its the best solution and fair but it req times to be implament)
Pretty sure they already stated what will happen.
They said the server that the other servers are being merged into would keep it’s current territory but the companies on the incoming servers were to get an amount of gold (it was said in a post 50k, but shown on PTR to only say 15k) to be used to declare war when they choose.
So the largest pop server that other servers are merged with keeps territory, others get cash compensation.
Has there been an update to this situation since they said this?
There would probably be complaints still, some people will remain unsatisfied. In the end of the day its still something that should have been ready since launch. Regardless, being upfront would still be a better option that “we are discussing”.
I didnt hear anything about it but thats a good solution and a fast one.
I like being on low pop server, I get to know most ppl by name and we help each other cross faction in many ways. 180 player peak is maybe too low, but anything above 600 or so seems overpopulated to me.
When I watch some stream on a world with 1500+ players it’s not something Id enjoy.
Great post. And yea it’s wild, I remember on Day 1, fighting queues and finally getting in and starting my journey. I remember thinking “man, there are so many people playing this game, it’s gonna be tough to control a town, hope the company I join can manage to do that!”
I never imagined that my company would be one of barely a few still left on the server and at least trying to maintain stations at Cutlass Keys and Everfall as best we can. The crazy thing is, our population is so low, no one even wants to control undesirable towns. Reekwater on our server is STILL owned by a company that raided treasury coffers and transferred off server IN OCTOBER. I wonder if AGS realizes just how screwed the game is on low pop servers, where towns are literally left to rot. Some MMO.
