This is in response to a recent thread that blew up and is full of misinformed players throwing around blind accusations:
Disclaimer: My views are my own and do not represent the views of the entire Parabellum company
For starters, no we are not selling gold, and no we are not all raking in millions. From an outsider perspective people see a 5m+ weekly income in EF/WW and automatically assume everyone in the company is making loads. What they don’t realize is how expensive running a company is, those MILLIONS quickly turn to just THOUSANDS after you account for expenses and splitting it up between company members.
At our peak, we had 6 territories (all on same siege timer btw) and pulled in a little over 8m that week. “Wow 8m in one week? This game is so unfair!”. What outsiders don’t see are the insane amount of expenses: War consumes, town upkeep, push/invasion salary, coach/staff salary, and the remainder given away to people who swap roles/builds for the sake of shifts in the meta.
In that week the company earned 8m, I gained a total of 45k (excluding war consumes which are paid for), and that was as a Coach as well. Some players are given more, some given less, depending on how active they are with VOD reviews/influence pushing/invasions/etc… In the 5 months I’ve been in the company (~2-3 months as a coach) I’ve earned a total of ~200k, probably lost gold overall tbh if you consider how many items I’ve sold to company members at a discount.
I’m being transparent here because very few people seem to realize how companies are ran, and honestly the misinformation/toxicity toward PVP companies is just disgusting. I’m tired of hearing the same accusations from 100s of people that we sell off all the gold and “big PVP companies control the market”. The best companies didn’t just suddenly wake up and get lucky. The amount of hours spent VOD reviewing, practicing, discussing strats, and optimizing rosters definitely deserves some type of benefit. So the idea that “singular companies shouldn’t receive the taxes from territories” is an absolute joke. If you want to kill the competition in PVP, then sure, remove the ONLY incentive for being better. At the end of the day, every top PVP company has worked hard to be the best, and if there are no incentives then there is no competition.
I don’t disagree with you but I think you missed the point. Companies are expensive to run, they don’t make nearly as much as people think they do. I’ve earned 99% of my gold 100% solo from flipping the market/investing before patches.
In the 5 months I’ve been in the company (~2-3 months as a coach) I’ve earned a total of ~200k
I didn’t miss the point, I just have absolutely no interest in whether companies make money or don’t. I’m just saying people should get upset about something that matters instead of this. If they are mad people are richer then them -or not- (legit), then they should be more mad at people buying gold online.
Well the topic is in response to the thread saying companies make too much/sell gold. Gold buyers are a completely different topic. But yes, I agree with you I guess.
I think you miss that I’m agreeing with you, people should shut up about companies making money for owning territory (regardless of why). Just taking the opportunity to show how silly the discrepancy is. Sorry for going slightly off-topic, I guess.
yeah most people don’t realize that megacompanies are the biggest gold buyers, not the biggest gold sellers. Rosters are competitive, BiS is expensive, and you’re expected to “do what you need to do” if you want to stay in wars
Welcome to the life of the fishing community, You are going to be ignored because you are a minority group.
Even when you bring up facts the reality is the majority do not want to participate in that content so they will shoot you and your content down at any turn they can.
But they DO want to participate in this content. Every day I see people on here complaining that the same 50 players are always slotted for wars. The sense of entitlement they have is just disgusting. Top PVP companies put so many hours into the game it’s almost like a second job, and “OrichalcumFarmer42” over here throws a fit because he can’t compete at the same level… Everyone has the same opportunity, but not everyone puts in the same effort.
in my opinion as a person who has never been in war or pushed influence in my life youre definitely wrong you sell gold and have 20 shell companies nanananana
What an eye-opener. The owning guilds of multiple towns including top one(s) make less net gold per day than I can farming Wyrdwood for an hour?
Perhaps the real solution is to get rid of the whole monetary portion of this system. Perma-upgrade crafting stations to T5, turn housing & tp tax into gold sinks and obliterate any need for companies to need gold to operate a city.
Make it about bragging rights of having your name & banners on a city and exclusive in-game rewards for companies that win territories.
Then companies could stop putting in endless, unrewarding hours running a mock business and focus more on the fun part - 50vs50 pvp!

Trust me, the bragging rights and fun competition is 99% of the reason we put in so many hours. No one is doing it for the gold, because who in their right mind is putting in this many hours just to make ~200k in 5 months? No one. The gold we earn from taxes is simply a small bonus, a way to offset expenses (war consumes add up quickly), and a small incentive to encourage people to participate in boring stuff which goes toward salaries (influence pushing/invasions)
I mean, mega companies have the potential to ruin entire servers.
Having multiple subsidiary companies all controlling territories, painting the map one colour, having plenty of people for influence pushing and the ensuing PvP, etc.
Not saying all of them do it, but a lot of them do, and after ruining their old servers they often mass transfer to new ones and repeat the process. Its a genuine problem.
The only things you really need to pay as town holder are the costs to keep the stations up and the buffs.
Everything else (crafting, supplies, coaches and so on) are optional. And every company who want to be on the same level has to pay it too. And most of them don’t have that passive income
So the amount is still HUGE!
And that leads me to the most important thing. This income is PASSIVE. Yeah, maybe people watch VOD, or train pvp. But they all have the chance (and the people I know do it as well) are able to farm, use the market and crafting to make money.
So all your points are useless, because it’s passive income, others don’t have. Plus the costs, other needs to pay too (supply, gear)
