Returning player here, cant progress

Progression is pretty whack in New World. It is not really a skill based game, more of a “time-played” long repetitive journey.

There is up to 10% defensive and around 30-35% offensive difference between fresh lvl 60 with TP PvP gear and 625 geared player. It makes some room for pure skill. But yes, NW isn´t only skillbased because its an MMORPG = character progression and time spent in game matters. It was never introduced as purely skill-based game.

It is about a 20% difference between a player with GS600 and one with GS625, with a player who just reached level 60 it is much more.

It is up to 10% defensive (depends on light/med/heavy loadout) and 35% offensive difference. Sorry, many tests proved that and numbers don´t lie :wink:

Yes, it was presented that way, as a skill-based game where any player could beat any other, even if they are higher lvl.

These numbers show its nothing what skill can´t overcome. Its an MMORPG, progression of your character should matter to a certain degree, it is what keeps you playing, improving your character. You just need to find a sweet spot where fresh players aren´t oneshotted by veteran players.

That happened in the beginning, when the game was for skills and not for equipment.

No, I deduced that from playing various MMORPGs for about 20 years.

Give it a break. They guy has post after post of testing. All you have is your feelings and personal attacks.

This post made me think, why do we even need the potion for topaz gypsum. Why even have that barrier?

Although I’m thinking maybe they did it to give those items value? Before the potion - the item prices for the topaz gypsum potion were much lower.

Yeah, wondering if there is a better way of doing that though. Perhaps other potions?

gypsum
onyx- is open world boss above lvl 60 i believe there some that you can try and solo. need 3 can get 3 a day
sapphire- is from betting the final boss in a dungeon you can buy all of them at max faction rep for like 400ish gold. need 1 can get 3(tempest, laz , and gen)
ruby- complete an opr can get 2 per day need 1
amethyst- complete high level portals can get 7 need 7
Garnet - gotten from the arena- need 1 (don’t know to much about it)
citrine - gotten from arena pve craft or i belive there are some quest lines need 1 can get 1
topaz- make a potion at a camp use it 1 hour effect and kill 55+ monsters 25% drop chance need 10 can get 10
Dimond- gotten from gattering reasorces from the hidden bags(not sure what there called) i believe this can be done from any tier but the higher the better. can get 3 need 3

not 100% on all of these but the way to get them is right no cooldown on the orbs but the boxs do have a preset time the reset.

nobody really charges for dungeons unless they are m10’s so its not to hard to find people and you typically make your money back for the orb which are on a 1 day cooldown.

You’ll also get a chest from Tempest which has a high Chance of dropping a Gypsum after those corrupted Set chest, which also have a BiS DEX Ring.

Na that’s a giant pile of dung. Even those of us that do not need expertise, and tell them to run genesis non stop, have been stating the expertise system is trash.

Only a fool would have a large number of customers complain about one thing in their product, and ignore those complaints entirely. At the end of the day AGS is a business, and NW is a product.

Also, if you could stop using the it’s an mmorpg excuse for bad design, that would be swell. I am really tired of seeing that used as the ultimate moronic catchall for any bad design people could not defend with rational reasoning.

It’s not that running nonstop genesis is that bad, it’s the fact until you hit the arbitrary number every drop you get is trash, while others in the same run, that have hit the arbitrary number, get drops that can be upgraded.

So you think other MMOs have better progression system? They usually lock you out of content until you hit a certain gearscore or simply a certain quality of gear. They also timegate your progression (raids once a week, dungeons once a day etc.).

NW on the other hand doesn’t lock you out of content (except of mut. expeditions), you can literally spam whatever content you want (with orbs being removed next patch its even easier to spam dungeons), BUT, as you said, you are getting trash gear (its not exactly trash, its trash from endgame PoV) until il 590+ which can be upgraded.

Which of these systems is better according to you?
