Returning player here

Let me expand:

During the work week I was able to get in 1 or 2 expeditions, or maybe an expedition and a few chest runs. During the weekend, I would hit a 6-8 hour expedition grind on one day and maybe even a couple hours of chest runs, then on the other day hit 3-4 hours worth of expeditions.

All total that was about 22 hours of play a week, which feels pretty casual. Jewelry took a month of gypsums to grind which was a bit annoying.

Apparently the expertise bumps have increased by about double in the next patch, iirc.

Also I think with the new salvage system you can craft things to boost expertise, which doesn’t have a CD. Not 100% on this one though

Either way, doing expeditions are fun, and the expertise grind is not bad through this route. PvP on the other hand is a nightmare. You’re better off just grinding expertise to 600 before you start doing PvP properly.

I don’t think it’s worth spending too much time on expeditions if the equipment you get is worth nothing (less than GS590), and the problem is that the RUNs are usually at certain times of the day, and you can’t always find them. But they are still the most effective way to climb.

Tank on a busy server here. I never wait more than 5 minutes and I stopped buying Orbs from the faction vendor because I never needed them, although whenever I found a good group I’d offer to pop an orb for a 2nd run and half the time they’d agree.

Welcome back, yeah nw is little better now, but need more work.
Myself Im not feel this unique feeling of an new special mmo, like when I play wow for the first time BC 2007 and how amazing that feeling was.
That game that has that feeling I hope ashes of creation will have when I first play it, until then I play nw.

So true. But some try to convince others it’s this huge mountain to climb, when in reality it goes by pretty quickly.

The existence of a meta is the problem. It indicates character power is built around specific gear and skills rather than the player’s performance. It wasn’t always like this, but making the game like this was an intentional choice.

Shaking up the meta = new grinds.

I wish player skill expression was a bigger deal.

Sadly I think we live in the days of an ever-present meta, but this particular meta is not fun to play nor play against. At least the GA nonsense was fun to play. I started off as a bow main and lobbing heavy attacks into groups while jumping from side to side just isn’t fun, no matter how big those numbers go.

Please tell us when was the last time you went through the 500-600 experience system, I’m uploading a new character now and I’m in that process.

I completed expertise probably 4 months ago. It’s much easier today with the extra gypsum they added and the upcoming removal of orbs and larger expertise bumps. It’s going to be easy mode after next patch.

Wow, why the hostility??? I’m coming from eso and theres a mass exodus going on because the devs have lost touch with the community. New world is beating it on twitch for crying out loud… I know new world is deeply flawed but i see the devs are listening.

uh they are only a 1-2k apart hardly doing well on twitch - mmorpgs don’t do well on twitch to begin with

i’m just saying, for a supposedly dead game, it is beating eso on twitch. Says a lot on the state of eso.

Entering OPR/Arena without being GS600 sucks, and going to dungeons to get items under GS590 sucks too, at the end of the day, all you have left are gypsum and RUN, nothing more.

I insist, the experience system would not be such a problem if it was well implemented. dungeons should give item GS between 590-600 and then calculate your GS with the current system, but it doesn’t.

8 straight hours of grinding probably sounds atrocious to anyone who has literally anything but New World going on on their time off, lol.

Like that’s a work day. Is that really casual anymore? I thought casual was much closer to the ‘3 hours a day, if that’ crowd.

8 hours a day is a working day haha. You can not require a casual to spend more than 2 hours on the PC a day.

3 hours a day for 7 days is 21 hours. In my example I played an hour, maybe two, during a workday, then nerded out one day on the weekend.

I hadn’t heard that, that is quite interesting news :o.

Unfortunately, we DO have a lot of very jaded and salty individuals in this forum that will rail on NW every chance they get, and in every post they see that might have something nice to say about new world.

I very much love that you are enjoying new world as i do, i am a casual compared to a lot of people in here. But i don’t regret one minute playing and seeing the improvements first hand, and taking part in the feedback that helps steer those decisions.

I hope that you bring friends from your old game/games and help new world grow :revolving_hearts:

I know, I’m just used to casuals not ‘nerding out’ at all, even for one day. In that sense, that one day is equal to another three. Which in perspective is still pretty tame.

On the other hand, MMOs probably aren’t a great genre to go to to avoid grinding. Sssso.
