oh 3v3’s are great! But losts arks 1 pvp game mode, where you can’t even select a teammate, is trash.
But this isn’t like BDO in any shape or form. BDO is pay to win. New world you can have BIS gear in just a few weeks.
INFACT, with new world, you don’t even need BIS.
I have not a single “BIS” piece of gear, but I have never felt disadvantaged during combat in new world. IT definitely is about skill with new world. Having higher stats doesn’t help that dodge button to get pressed faster. Higher stats doesn’t help position your player for a better attack. Higher stats don’t help you time your combos. Higher stats do not give you better aim.
If you aren’t skilled at the game, having all BIS will do nothing for you
Yes, but the dysync and lag makes it hard to do combos. Which is why I picked up the blunderbuss, but then I realized I would have to level that thing up. That is where New World lost me. I have to restart a brand new grind for the blunderbuss and I don’t want to. I just want to do the grind once during my time with the game and not again. I don’t want to rerun pve content for every new weapon that is what is terrible. My armor and main weapons are already at 625 I just don’t want to do it again and again for a new one.
I guess to put it plainly New World is fundamentally a good game, but as of right now the lag/dysync and the expertise system is killing it. If I feel this way about the game after 767 hours played, how do you think a new player is going to feel. I would bet that is the reason why New World is hard pressed for new players. So something needs to be done because the Player base is still dying.
I think the expertise system shouldn’t restrict players effectiveness with a weapon. The game naturally has an expertise with a weapon in its skill based gameplay. Either get rid of the whole system or restrict it to crafting, but don’t let it hinder players from being competitive in any content whether it be PvP or PvE.
Lastly people don’t like rng progression, but if you think about how to progress a single item it is essentially rng every single time you open a chest. However you get one guaranteed expertise bump from gypsum, but one a day.
You are talking about a 1-2 percent difference between 600-625. If a 1-2% difference makes or breaks you, skill oriented games are not your forte.
That what I like about New World, you don’t have to be fully maxed BIS gear to be competetive. As long as you are good at the game, you can make do with 1-2% worse damage.
But i 100% agree about the lag/desync. Completely strips any ability to play competetively.
I honestly don’t have any problems with the umbral system I just gather those as I play. But gypsum is timegated and limited to particular things in the game. It wouldn’t be so bad with a daily limit to how much you get per type. If I could just keep playing OPR and keep gathering ruby gypsum and then build as many cast for the blunderbuss per the amount of gypsum I have gathered that would be perfect. However, that is not the case. The case is I am timegated by how much gypsum and cast I could make.

True! It does basically force you to log in everyday to maximize your progress. But the gypsom was added to make getting 600 expertise faster. So every level you get with gypsom is completely a bonus
You get a gypsum orb per tempests heart and another orb for running dungeons. If all you wanna do is play OPR then you can get expertise bumps AND gypsum from it. The crates for OPR aren’t trash anymore.

was not surprise at the horrible PVP once again, i stopped playing back in Feb and for good reasons, there is no point returning to this game again.
was pleasantly surprise at how bad the Rapier+Bow has gotten and not surprise at how fluid the Blunderbuss is.
was however surprise as to why the Gaxe got buffed again, now you cant even run out of Gravity well but instead become a sitting duck to be slaughter, i can see it this game is just going to keep going downhill until people cant take it anymore, the upcoming updates are not going to change that
3vs3 will likely make many return only to leave when they realize Life staff Heals will completely make it one sided beat down.
as for the dungeon, its the usual, looks good but too easy and too straight forward without any suspence or feeling of achieving anything
Do daily chest run and/ or an expedition a day with gypsum cast made… max expertise in two weeks. if you are not willing to do that I doubt you would be a long term player anyways. Hope you find a game you enjoy.

All feedback is valuable, so thank you for taking the time to post yours. Playing a game and trying to grind in pve when all you want to do is pvp is a tough place to be. I’ve made a note about the things you’ve mentioned here and will pass this on to the developers.
I do understand the OP a bit.
I have played 1600+ hrs since launch + 200+ hrs in betas. too much time spent on a game with family and full time job sadly
GS and Expertise system is not too good. Hopefully, they don’t raise it more anytime soon.
I still login everyday to do my daily gypsums but I don’t do expeditions and mutations, to be honest I kind of hate it. Expeditions are fun for the first few times and that’s it.
Since Feb patch, without doing expeditions and mutations, I manage to get full set (2weap, 3jew, 5armor) up from GS600 to GS625 and about other 5 pieces from GS600-GS620 in 1 whole month. The progression of GS/Expertise is tediously long for anyone who hates expeditions/mutations. The game provides other means to get GS/Expertise/Umbral but it just make it a bit demoralising for specific group especially those who are not GS600 yet.
I’m not saying it’s the game design fault. I’m just saying I do understand OP how he feels.
To be honest, I would rather spend my time logging in daily to gather materials to roll my better equipment or play OPR than collecting daily gypsums.
While i have used this argument before, if you think about it 1% is a lot in terms of stats even though it may not sound like it.
Example;
Silver leafs “sacred” is 7.4% at 500 GS but 8.5% at 600 GS. Which would you rather have?
The ancient/angry earth trophys are apparently a 1% difference betwen T2 and T3 but cost 10s of thousands of gold difference.
So the value of such small incrimants are actually sought after. And you’re getting them between 25 GS instead of 100.
But to stay on topic, being a concurrent player of almost 2000 hrs with all 10 slots for 3 healer sets, tank and dps at 625 GS the thought of leveling blunderbuss is unrewarding and does not spark dopamine in my brain.
Today was the first time i logged off at a reasonable time (11pm) instead of the “sweats” time of 5am. Demotivated and uninterested.
Soon my only reason to log on, which is wars for my company’s terri, will be exhausted due to lag.
I would love to return to the game and play with my friends who are currently in another server they switched to. Here is my long story of how no communication is BAD. I had just transferred recently today because the original server i was in had 70 players on it. The server was dead and could not get a group for any expedition. I wanted to transfer to Orun to play with friends but it was closed. After a long conversation with Amazon support yesterday they told me there was no ETA on Orun opening. With this given information I transferred to Pluto server just to play the game with the new update. What I really enjoy is playing with all of my friends, that’s what makes this game so great. Only 3 hours after I had transferred, after the update went live, Orun magically reopened, many hours after this new content update went live. Is there anyway to revert my transfer or have my character be issued another token by the devs? Amazon support will not help me and all I want is to play with my friends again. This is a very weird and unfortunate situation for sure. Please give me some good news on something that can be done. I feel like a HUGE part of the problem with this game in the current state is the lack of server transfers. I don’t understand how even letting people pay money for them is a bad thing. Please let people play with their friends.
Imo this whole expertise scaling system was a mistake, people already told them when they first talked about it and yet they released it. It makes no sense to release a new weapon at 500 expertise and we have to grind out the mastery levels and then expertise levels for weeks just to be able to play the weapon. I tried the BB and thats it, cant be bothered with expertise and mastery, after 1k hour I dont think I should start at the bottom everytime something new release and re do everything.
I say it the short way: We are still forced to do PvE to compete in PvP.
The PvP rewards are still bad compared to PvE. No updated PvP Faction gear.
Increasing Expertise effectively and fast still only can be done by grinding PvE.
No 100 umbral shards for one OPR win is not enouch and no two gypsum casts for PvP is also not enough while having way more casts from doing PvE.
One kill in OPR should give 20 extra umbral shards to reward players fighting.
They will add to NW 3v3 arena so u will have a chance to get extra gypsum. Really why u really care that if u have pve to do pvp everything is to gave fun and u acting like kids even my 7 years old son complains less than most of people here … Go play Call of Duty or Battlefield there is no pve. This MMORPG and pvp and pve must be and should be connected. Even in full focused pvp Albion u need to go do pve.
