I’ve been 60 for a few weeks now, and while I enjoy relentlessly farming Elite areas for HWM and running Outpost Rush - there is a severe lack of direction with End Game content.
I’ve completed all the expeditions at least once. Lazarus was an interesting place.
More expeditions doesn’t solve the core problem.
There is no life in the end-game. Everyone mindlessly farming Scorched Mines, Myrkgard, Siren’s, Eternal Pools, and the corrupted portals. All just for pointless loot drops in hopes to increase their gear score. Forcibly making players choose Luck as a perk stat for gear in order to obtain rare materials. I think baseline Luck needs to be re-imagined.
Gathering and crafting bonus Luck is all that is necessary. Global luck should not be tuned with acquiring additional luck in mind - with having 0 severely inhibits your ability to acquire high end loot. Additional Luck should come from Consumable bonuses and Trophies, maybe capturing points scattered throughout the world that grants temporary luck bonuses within the region.
The single most important system that needs to be added for end-game is a neutral faction.
Incorporating both Lore and End-game progression in one swing. For example;
Shattered Mountains - a neutral faction that wanders the region, add a Territory Standing for the zone that you acquire by defeating monsters and completing objectives. A faction vendor with loot rewards based on your reputation level with the faction, also miscellaneous materials could be sold. Identical to the way the current faction vendors work.
With this faction, there could be a (Weekly? Daily?) rotating list of objectives with PvE and PvP missions, with similar progression points like the faction standing works. When I say there is nothing to do in End-Game I mean it. Outpost Rush was fun for a few days, there’s no variety in the environment. Farming elites and corrupted portals for two weeks was enjoyable.
Once already capped on gear score - running Lazarus is a severe pain, trying to farm the materials to create Tuning Orbs. On a dead server this task is already monstrous, with having only a handful of people also going for these, on top of needing everyone to be able to play at the same time.
I’m not sure if the developers underestimated the actual play-time it’d take for the majority of the playerbase to reach level 60 and 591 HWM, but we’re practically there.
I also understand they plan to implement Seasons (My map was bugged out with a Seasonal Leaderboard for Daily Claims / Season Claims after the last patch) but if it’s purely aesthetic with no real content injected that’s going to be disappointing.
