Propably everyone played on server, where single guild ruled Everfall/Windsward from begining. They never lost any defensive battle, get milions of gold every week, and made weaker guilds flee. You can hardly get to the gold cap by few months of gameplay, and single guild gets few gold caps every week, and other guild gets nothing. Everfall/Windsward owners are always best equipped guild on server, and players with highest skill join them to use their gold. So they are basicly unbeatable. Often they grief other players, by making prices high on market, by buying everything, setting high taxes, selling gold for rl money. No guild should be able to get ridiculus ammount of money every week, for months. It should be nerfed. Cities should change owners often, to give everyone chance. For example, after a week of owning a city, you(defender) get debuff - 15%hp, - 15% attack, per every week of owning city. Debuff would stack and if You reclaim same city before a week after lost it, debuff will be still the same. It will disappear after week of not owning same city. To prevent people to join other guild to attack same city: after you leave the guild, you cant participate in wars for 9 days, also faction change would be on 9 days cd. To prevent mercenaries, you can make players able to participate only in 1 war per 24. Instead of milions from Everfall, there should be cap, for example you can only get 100k per week from city(some guild dont even have that 100k per week) however, if 100k was earned, every player from guild would receive 0-4k in the end of the week, based on played time, players and monsters killed, resources gathered etc(it could be guild quest system)

My suggestions, only one of them not all of them at once:

give attackers an advantage that they will win 50% of the battles consistently, something like debuffs as suggested from renifur2

playerd can join a defending war only 2 times per week, every 3 days or 4 days to make it pretty much impossible to hold multiple territories and it would help to get more players in wars and not always the same ppl, that way you can implement the 40v40 war without having to worry about that because its not gonna be always the same group.

(my favourite one) Cap the gold a territory can make a week at about 300k. The rest of the gold will be put in a seperate company bank thats used for a new way of upgrading a territory or creating events (not sure what exactly to implement) and for crafting station upgrades and upkeep. That amount should be reward enough for the company. It might seem very low for the current standards but this way we will have a huge gold sink witch will make prices drop and new players have a better time gearing up instead of paying 100k for a decent equipment piece.
Just implement any change about that horrible gold system please, also this game needs a gold sink for a long time now.
But at the same time the playerbase is also at fault. Why do you use the tp in everall and windsward when they are owned by the same company making 5mil from holding both of them? Travel cost is basically non existent so just sell your items somewhere else where the company only makes like 200k each week…
Thats like complaining about Jeff Bezos being too rich when you keep buying from amazon for 9,90¥ when you can buy it from another site for 10¥ and get the exact same item in the same time.
Self fulfilling prophecy WW keeps low trade and refining tax because they make so much, other places raise theirs to make enough to keep their stations up with extra gold for themselves.
