Rimelash Ice Gauntlet iLvL 580, can't insert Gem

  • What is your character name in New World: Daria Devotion
  • What server/world did you experience your issue on: Canis
  • Describe the issue you are experiencing: As Topic says, you can’t insert a Gem into the Weapon Rimelash. I tried with Arcane IV and Nature IV. It is telling me, that the Gem is not compatible
  • Is this a bug or an exploit: It’s a bug
  • (if a bug) How did the issue effect your gameplay: I can’t modify my Damage.
  • (if a bug) Were you able to recover from the issue: NO!
  • (if a bug) Please include a screenshot or video of the issue that you have experienced: Imgur: The magic of the Internet
  • What are the steps to reproduce the issue as you experienced: grab the gem, try it to sockel

And if you’re on it, please remove the Dexterity from Rimelash and add the 9 missing INT. Every other “legendary” Weapon has 28 Mainstat, except Rimelash with 9 Dexterity and 19 Intelligence, thanks

yes because you aren’t supposed to be allowed to. same thing with rings you can’t change crafted rings gems either.

of cause i am allowed to put gems in my clothes and weapons.
this is a very unqualified post from you.

also this is a quest reward from the “legendary” quest-chain. It is called like this, because the weapons you get, were supposed to be legendary quality. now they are purple but the quest-chain is still called legendary weapon quest.

That’s not how slotting gems works.

It appears that rimelash comes with a chain effect:
Chain Ice: On hit cause a Chain Ice attack that bounces between close targets. Does not trigger off persistent damage or DoT effects.

This means that if you want to socket the gem with an elemental gem you can ONLY use an ice gem. This isn’t a bug, it’s the way it is. Hope this helps.

oha okay, thanks for the info.

considering im 200 jc, Im very aware of how it works. which is why this doesnt. pretty simple.

Yet there’s at least one piece of gear out there that has both elemental gem and the chain effect.

Yes, that is possible as long as you match the gem element to the chain effect element. IE: Sapphire must be arcane chain. It wouldn’t be able to be socketed into say for example, a weapon with fire chain on it.

FYI, the chain effect on Rimelash is ice (surprising, I know…)… but Aquamarine gems (the ice int conversion gem) which should work will not insert into Rimelash. The non-conversion gems seem to work fine.

So the bug from OP is maybe accurate, as you can’t put an ice conversion gem in the weapon that has ice chain damage effect… however, based on my testing it seems like you can’t put a gem that matches the base weapon damage, so you can’t put a ruby gem in a fire staff etc… so in this case, you can’t match the chain effect with a gem because the base damage is already ice.

Which makes sense, so it might not actually be a bug… but it does screw over anyone maining focus and wanting to use Rimelash.

This gauntlet is a joke anyways. Why tf would they put dex on a legendary ice gauntlet?
