I completely understand what you went though. Although, I was only lucky enough to loot Blackguard’s Firestaff (600GS and did not spend any Shards upgrading it) and have not obtained Blackguard’s Ice Gauntlet which is now not worth to getting personally unless you are min/max Refreshing Evasion (RE) player.
However, I would suggest farming Garden of Genesis for the Firevine Battlestaff (FS) and Taiying’s Heart IG from Mutated Dynasty. With that, spam M1 Dynasty just for gear hunting, with a competent group, M1 Dynasty isn’t that much of a slobber knocker. Also, be on the look out for the “Band of Ocean’s Oath” Ring that also drops from Mutated Dynasty as well, nice ring for a IG user. Good luck!

Honestly, they just need to bite the bullet themselves and deal with the future grief people have about not being able to obtain these weapons versus throwing the rest of us under the bus. They seem more concerned about people who haven’t even played the game than those of us who have 1000-2000hrs played. Seriously, why can’t we just keep the versions that we have and not make the changes retroactive? They made other changes in the past that were not retroactive. Illusory Enigma had Beast Bane and therefore was trash and I never used mine. They changed it, but not the one that I had. It took 100s of OPR matches to get a new one to drop with the new perk.
This is why it really stings, these for many Int casters the very first dungeon drops to look forward to. I dont know if this is a) lack of understanding of what int players want or b) bias towards this type of playstyle.
But if it was lack of understanding, we as the community have tried through hundreds of posts to let them know what would be a good replacement, at this point it looks like bias.
they know this for 2 months now and yet , after me 2 months of asking i still didnt get one single answer to why blackguard vg is getting changed when it dont have plagued strikes ,like idk wut to say by now but it clear they dont play their own game nor they test it , another proff is gen and tempest dungeons still not fixed … after 2 patches rolled out just for those fixes kekw
it had plagued crits idk why they changed it to refreshing evasion they probabbly thought it had plagued strikes or just bias to mages i dont see any other way
It really feels like AGS is acting is bad faith by changing/removing/downgrading rewards people have earned by playing new content. I would not have ran Tempest’s Heart as many times I had (aka logged as many hours playing) to get these weapons with the “new/updated” perks. These weapons kept me playing, but now I just feel taken advantage of. I know this might sound a bit dramatic, but I feel like they could offer anything to get people to keep playing…then just take it away.
I’m going to miss refreshing move on my blunderbuss, but I’m happy to not be diseased for half of an opr match.
Agreed. Need more playable skills to add variety to gameplay. I wouldn’t mind them also adding more skill points to weapons and extending skill trees for complexity, right now there are 1-max2 different builds for every weapon, even if you can pair any 2 weapons it’s still gets repetitive after awhile.
The amount of unplayable skills in the game rn is kinda sad…

Name one other Firestaff and Ice Gauntlet that competes against Firevine Battlestaff and Taiying’s Heart that are “desirable” pure INT weapons other than the late Blackguard’s Firestaff and Blackguard’s Ice Gauntlet that drop in Expeditions. Tell you what, there isn’t. You can only make BiS Orichalcum Firestaff and Ice Gauntlet’s now that those “were” going to be the next best FS/IG weapons other than Firevine Battlestaff and Taiying’s Heart.
The probability of crafting a BiS FS or IG are very slim but not impossible. Sure, Keen/Lifestealing/Plagued Crits/Refreshing Move/Enchanted of combinations might be a alternative to craft BiS, but that can be only crafted, not dropped. We are talking about “dropped” weapons. Firevine Battlestaff was the last “best” FS for Mages to drop in a expediton before Tempest’s Heart FS.
Furthermore, it did not take a full week for the decision to change Plagues Heavy Strikes with Refreshing Evasion. It’s honestly not “game breaking” The thought process was that Plagued Heavy Strikes did not belong on Ranged Weapons. Why do you think every Ranged weapon on the list is having Plagued Heavy Strikes changed. The data for OPR/Wars still has melee dependent over Mage, sure, you may see GA/IG players, but that’s not a “pure Mage” to where players are complaining about FS/IG with Plagued Heavy Strikes. Check the forums, check other raw “data” charts and know that Mages don’t make up the majority of OPR/Wars, it’s STR/DEX users. The removal of Plagued Heavy Strikes was NOT game breaking enough to warrant a replacement. It was mainly a knee jerk bias move to replace good weapon perks with another perk which is not desired by many Mage build players. The only players that will benefit from Refreshing Evasion perk are those players who are min/max Refreshing Evasion perks on gear/weps/jewelry to maximize CD’s on their abilities.
no the only problem here is they change blackguard void gauntlet perk while thinkin it had plagued strikes when it didn’t hence why all the outcry’s as they change the vg when it was nothing wrong with it, does your brain understand know more ??
I thought it was lack of understanding but it is clearly bias. They are intentionally not giving mages good items from dungeons. They probably have some data and don’t want to the weapons to be too strong or something. I have no idea but it is pure incompetence. The guy balancing this stuff is the worst part of this game. I will never give this game another dollar.
Yeah they literally changed blackguards VG due to a clerical error and just ignored all the feedback pointing out their mistake. One of the most dysfunctional companies I have ever seen.

Hello everyone! I completely understand your concerns (and we’re ingesting your feedback), but this was an initial bug on our end that was fixed with this patch. It wasn’t an intended perk, as I initially stated.
@Aenwyn You guys accidentally changed “Plagued Crits” to “Refreshing Evasion” on the Void Gauntlet, not “Plagued Heavy strikes”. Holy shit how many times are people saying the same thing and you aren’t responding? Read the damn thing I just said, it’s a clerical error. The void gauntlet never had “Plagued Heavy Strikes”, how do you not understand this simple concept? Some intern at AGS accidentally changed plagued crits thinking it was plagued strikes and it is somehow making it onto live.
It doesnt matter if it was initially intended or not, u guys have zero understanding of what is a trash perk or what is desirable on weapons - if u think that refreshing evaasion is a good alternative. So many choices but ended up with the baddest u could think of
Can we focus on the fact that they said they are changing “Plagued Heavy Strikes” to “Refreshing Evasion” and then accidentally changed the void gauntlets “Plagued Crits” to “Refreshing Evasion”?
If this is intended please let the players know that “Plagued Crits” was also an accidental perk.
It doesnt matter all of the above are bad choices
