Riposte Stun working as Intendet?

Hi Guys
Im pretty new to this Weapon and i have a question about the Riposte Stun.
When i counterattack my Oponent in PvP with Riposte, he dodges the Stun.
Is this working as intendet?

Its an extemely weak stun, even if he doesnt dodge the stun, one attack unstuns him, whereas other stuns allow you to land multiple hits.

Yes I know that an attack removes the stun
I did not want to know that, also not that there are better stuns
I want to know if it works like it should or if it should be possible to avoid the stun
If it should be possible, which I hope not (because it would be nonsense for me to use riposte in pvp), then I can no longer rely on riposte.
I have noticed that the last few games in outpost rush, that there are players who trigger the riposte with one attack and then immediately dodge.
Not everyone does that, just a few.
Are they exploiting a bug there?
As it is now I can not rely on riposte.
If it should be possible to dodge the stun, then I can adapt my playstyle to it.
That’s why I want to have the certainty

There’s no way I non-dev like me could know, I’m just saying even if it WASNT intended and they fix it, riposte still stinks and needs a buff, if a dev wanders in I hope he reads what I said.

As sad as it sounds, it is intended. You will only get the stun off 100% if you riposte a spell. If they auto attack they can dodge out of riposte. It is also buggy too though, sometimes it’ll look like it hit, like their character actually got punched, but they don’t get stunned.

it’s not a bug nor an exploit, just more experienced players playing around the skill. Riposte works as a two-steps attack, the first (the ‘present the weapon’ stance) blocks ANY incoming attack, the second stuns the target. These are basically two separate attacks with two different animations, so a player can get riposted (blocked) but immediately dodge the stun attack, if of course they have stamina and are at a reasonable range (which is the important part, since the stun attack radius is pretty small).

Moreover the block-trigger part is shorter than the actual time you stay on the riposte-stance, so it’s important that you bait an attack and riposte during their animation, rather than randomly precast it, otherwise any decent player will just wait a quarter second and then cast any attack, which won’t be blocked anymore…

I wouldn’t drop riposte, since it’s basically one of the skills carrying the rapier set:
-it can be used at any point of any attack, immediately canceling any animation
-it blocks everything, arguably even a bunch of stuff that make no sense to be blockable
-if you have a bunch of enemies stacked on you and you land a riposte on a single one of them, you can stun all of them, giving you time to gtfo
-if you land the stun, you have plenty of time to reposition on your enemy’s back and land a charged attack, however this is more a 1v1 scenario than anything

Just keep in mind that with the latest patch riposte (and any other hard cc skill to be honest) has become really unreliable thanks to constant rubberbanding and desync, weird stuff happen in OR that has really nothing to do with the skill itself, but rather with the servers shitting their pants, hopefully it’ll get better once the big PTR patch lands

ok
so you say its working as intendet.
it shall be possible to dodge the stun
Everything else I always do as you said, if you press Riposte too early no one attacks you.
Good that I know that it should be possible to avoid the stun.
Then I can do a leg sweep and dodge immediately afterwards, if I am playing with the spear.
I’ll have to test it in a duel.
Thanks for the explanation
