Root time for Ice Shower skill

AGS, could you clarify if the root debuff duration inflicted by Ice Shower is working as intended? Currently it states that Ice Shower inflicts Frostbite which roots the player for 1sec, but based on my experience I have noticed that the root debuff is constantly refreshed so long as the player is within the area of effect of Ice Shower.

This becomes a major problem because the root debuff (not so much a root as a 95% reduction in speed) can effectively immobilize a player for as long as 3 secs, depending on which part of the ice shower the player is caught in. Then you have the 50% movement speed reduction debuff that takes place after the root debuff and lasts for another 3 secs, creating a very deadly and broken spell.

If this is intentional design, please increase the cooldown timer for this spell to at least 45secs because of its potency. In 1v1 duels, it is easier to predict and avoid the shower, but in wars or OPR, it is literally a death sentence against melee players especially when used together with other cc effects.

I don’t even want to talk about the strange animation stutter bugs with my character’s legs when I am caught in this spell or in Ice Storm. Please review this spell again, and for god’s sake, please play your own game!

Are you sure it’s the root and not frostbite? Frostbite should be refreshed as long as the enemy stands in the Shower. I play IG aswell but didn’t see the root getting refreshed.

The root symbol are some kind of “roots” or “entanglement”.
The Frostbite symbol is the snow flake.

If you play against IG and get afflicted by the ice shower, you will notice a debuff icon on yourself that stays at 1sec as long as you are within the AOE of Ice Shower. That is the root debuff that causes players to move at an extreme snail speed or not be able to dodge, and is constantly refreshed as long as the player is in the Ice Shower.

This creates a vicious cycle, where you are unable to move out of the Ice Shower because of the root effect, and the root effect constantly refreshes itself causing you to be unable to move out of the Ice Shower. This is why people get stuck in the Ice Shower for such a long time allowing IG mages to pelt them down with heavy attacks plus Ice Spike, the effective root time of Ice Shower is much longer than 1 sec in most cases.

I have noticed that if I do not dodge out the edge immediately my character becomes trapped and unresponsive. I can’t move, use abilities, or potions. I don’t know if it’s just creating lag on my side or what but if I get caught in the center I just can’t do anything at all.

Here’s the combo.

Ice shower hits you with frost. Basically excessively slows you for 1 second. The armor perk, unending thaw, adds an additional 2 seconds when you exit ice shower. ONTOP of that, as long as you have the debuff (the snowflake thing) there is an ability on the tree, that let’s them hit you with a root (1 second), if they land a heavy attack on you. If they manage to do it while your still in the ice shower, the frost effect can stay on you for a total of 4 seconds. The 1 second while in it (paired with root) and the additional 2 seconds when you exit it.

While having frost debuff, damage on you is increased by 25%, and you have extra 20% chance of receiving a crit on you.

Outside of this, IG is fairly meh. Whole build relys on you having the debuff or standing in the ice storm AOE. The same crit chance from the frost debuff, applies if you stand in ice storm.

Thanks for the reply man. I am aware of the entire toolkit for the IG. I have a set of gear for IG/VG that I don’t currently use because I don’t like the autoattacks for magic weapons at the moment.

Unfortunately my post only has to do with the Ice Shower ability and whether its frostbite root effect is really 1 sec. Based on my testing and experience, it is not because the root duration is constantly refreshed as long as the afflicted character is in the AOE of the Ice Shower.

Well I basically just responded to you. I main FS/IG…and have since before the nerf on them. I’ve used it a lot, and I’ve had it used on me. There isn’t any kind if bug associated with it.

Just tested this in a duel just now. The frostbite debuff which causes the root (not so much a root as a 95% reduction in speed) stays on you perpetually as long as you are in the Ice Shower’s area of effect, which creates the problem that I have described:

This creates a vicious cycle, where you are unable to move out of the Ice Shower quickly because of the root effect, and the root effect constantly refreshes itself causing you to be unable to move out of the Ice Shower.

@Luxendra could you have the devs review the Frostbite root debuff on Ice Shower please? The effective root time is definitely longer than the tooltip’s stated 1 sec.
