This. Until more optimization is done, performance is hard stuck by how good of a CPU (and ram) you have.
CPU recommendations
Amd AM4, 5800x3d
Amd AM5, wait for 7800x3d
Intel, 12700k minimum (get a 13600k with ddr4 if on budget)
I went from 5900x to 5800x3d, my 1% lows increased DRAMATICALLY. I lost some on highs, I don’t hit 300fps anymore in open world, but I now have 60-70fps lows in wars (up from 45-55), when 100 players are fighting on 1 objective point
But my AVERAGE fps is ~90ish when not on the last objectives in wars. Usually 90-130fps.
You need AMD Ryzen 9 7900X+ or Intel 13xxx to get higher GPU usage for that card. I’m an old 5900X and a new 7900X user with RX 6800 XT, that upgrade did a huge change for me.
With an i9 12900K and a gtx 1660S, everything maxed out, 1080p resolution runs at a stable 60 fps everywhere (open world, expeditions, OPR and arena pvp).
It’s IPC thing, you’ll get higher FPS with higher single-thread performance, this game has one of the worst optimizations and cannot use much multiple cores so that low gpu usage happens.
Yeah I understand how that works, but 20-25% utilization in OPR + 80-90% usage in Open World, doesn’t make any sense for it to be a CPU only issue. Why would the spread between the two be THAT much? I think this is more of a OPR Dev issue. 5950X isnt slow (single threaded) enough to cause that low of GPU utilization
