What is everyone’s consensus on the rules for dueling?
-Consumables allowed? (i.e. pots/food/stones) yes/no?
-Switching out weapons if you can? ( i.e. playing S&S and hatchet against fire/rapier, mid fight you realise he just kites you, so you switch to bow and hatchet) yes/no?
IMO no consumables is generally the code of honor we have amongst ourselves and abide by that. When ppl don’t adhere to that and i forfeit the duel, they call ME the bad one. I generally see this happen when ppl fight against classes with self heals, (LS, S&S, VG).
I think there is a clear difference in abilities vs consumables. You choose to accept or decline the duel based on their loadout. So if you think its unfair to duel life staff users…dont, right? Otherwise, if you accept the duel, dont whine about it if you lose.
Am i wrong thinking no consumables are the norm? or do ppl really not care in duels and anything goes?
Usually I try to clarify before the duel consumables or not. Or i’ll wait until they drink one to drink one. I’d say about 75% of people use them in duels.
i always health potion against heavy armor LS. If I don’t there is like .5% chance for me to win ( post nerf ) and I have to play 100% perfect or they need to mess up. Unless they are terrible. A lot of people drink potions in duels, its not like other games. Consumables are meta, the first constitution perk establishes this as such. I’m not typically bothered if someone eats or drinks a potion in a duel with me. I usually only drink t1 weak potions in pvp besides important war’s or territory battles.
If a heavy armor lifestaff has a problem with me drinking a potion in a duel he is bad or just new to the game. So while he just sits in his circle and heals up, what am I to do? In open world pvp i would get distance and eat while hes isolated in his circle. In a duel what do you suggest smack him in the circle and do no damage, or let him full heal then fight and repeat?
Also I’d like to add, starting a duel on top of someone is a poor duel practice.
It’s been that way in every MMO. EQ, WoW, AoC, etc. Always used potions. If someone doesn’t like it, they can forfeit and not duel me, or flag up and I’m going to use them anyways
