Runestone Recipe is NOT profitable! BUFF IT!

Hello,

so I wondered about Runestone lately and took a look at the profitability of the Recipe. I always felt that it cost way too much grind or how I found out IS NOT PROFITABLE TO CRAFT!

Link to Spreadsheet: Runestone Recipe Profitability - 09/2022 - Google Sheets

I calculated the different variation with having/not having the Stonecutter Set and with/without the First Light Fort Refine Buff. None of those results in crafting Runestone oneself being profitable. [Server: Dry Tree (EU); Market Prices from 07/09/2022 24h00 CET]

I used the Sell Prices and included the Refine Bonuses in the calculations as you can see in the Spreadsheet.

Now, one may argue, are the prices too low or should Legendary Mats refinement be profitable?

This question could be a lot more difficult to answer and I will calculate the other Mats to see if it is only Runestone. Also, the exp gained or rather Aptitude Box Rewards + Rare Gathering Drops Values are not included. Still, the net profitability with at least complete Refinement/Stonecutter Set should still be green. Else, what is there to gain to spend the time gathering.

Overall, I believe that Legendary Mats Refinement should be profitable, so if prices stay the same for Runestone on most server (it increased by a bit lately), I believe that the recipe has to change.

Else the Rune Stone Price needed to break even would be (approximately) for:

  • No Set & No FL Fort = 780g
  • Set OR FL Fort = 650g
  • Set AND FL Fort = 550g

Even if gathering would become profitable paying as much for just one Runestone Piece seem a bit way over the top, especially if it still connnected to some game content as PvE Arenas. Therefore, I hope that AGS will ‘buff’ the Runestone Recipe, so that at least the numbers are slightly in the green

Feel free to create a copy of the Spreadsheet and check for your own server, just have to change the ‘Market Price’ Values. Also share your thoughts and critiscm on this.

The difference is even worse on my server. I bought all the runestones under 400g and then sold the lodestone I had been (painfully) farming.

I don’t think this is a problem specific to runestones. The economy is broken in so many ways structurally, plus players are not reacting rationally to the market. Nothing on my server pays to refine.

Bump. Fix Runestone recipe

It’s another one of those situations where, if they do adjust it. People will adjust what they are willing to pay for it. In this case, with refining since everyone can do it, it just doesn’t pay because there’s no pressure.

But Runestone will be needed for some of the nee Brimstone content, so failing to get to the content shouldn’t fail due to the price in my opinion.
