Even in real life the runner always has the advantage until hit. I would rather see a mechanic that discourages someone from running away. Stamina kicks in? Runs slower if you got a good first hit in?
It bugs me most that you can see the level of the people in pvp. If you cannot see your opponent’s level, and you’re a pvp player at heart, you probably won’t run. If I see that you’re a 60 and I’m a 40 you bet I’m running. You have a big billboard atop your head telling me to run or respawn.
Yea, but not everyone is so elite. Not knowing your opponent’s level, until maybe after a kill, makes it more real. Currently we’re playing with a bunch of numbers on our jerseys. Gimme some dog tags off the fallen with their level, not some clairvoyant skill that allows me to see their power from 100 yards away. It discourages a lot of pvp encounters.
disagree. Level information is nice when you know what you’re fighting against, especially since they reduced scaling. If everything was scaled, then maybe.
not always? Lower levels attack me all the time lol. Especially when there’s multiple they’re not always easy to kill and it’s easy to die. This is just an asinine issue that doesn’t really matter.
You’re on a better server then. No lower levels attacked me yet. I stared at one 10 levels under on the road and they didn’t attack. Same as most pvp games. I’m talking strictly solo, though.
of course seeing that your opponent is more powerfull than you ndiscourages engaging and encourages running away but thats also true for seeing weapons. Bows are OP in PvP and once you engage you cant run afterwards so you just avoid contact in the first place
Mounts wouldn’t affect pvp that negatively as many say it would. Open world pvp is pretty much non existent besides being constantly flagged and doing PvP missions. And whenever I encounter a fight, it’s a tedious cat and mouse game with endless healing and running until we eventually reach the next safezone…
I think mounts would lead to more PvP engagements. If I read in the chat about a carnage going on, I could quickly go there and take part. I could roam the lands quicker and find potential encounters more frequent. Having to walk across the whole map to take part in a PvP event somewhere is just demotivating as 1) the time to walk there is too long and 2) the encounter would probably be over by the time I arrive there.
The other day I was chased by group of nolife lvl 60 players, when I was just 40 and alone. They chased me for at least 20 minutes, but my quick feet managed to run away. Please leave it that way. If you are lvl 60 and need to compensate your problems on lower lvl undergeard people you better be quick.
here is the breakdown of what you just said:
-you have pvp turned on
-you made a choice to NOT use any gap closers
-you are mad because you cant catch the person who did
This is a problem because they removed stagger from regular attacks, slow effect from healing, the sprint mechanic, and changed pvp scaling so people just runaway if they see someone who’s a higher level. I play a heavy melee character and my pvp experience has been terrible, players just run away and heal with food or run back to a settlement.
I don’t like the idea of being forced to use certain weapons or abilities, if some builds aren’t viable that means the combat is unbalanced or poorly designed.
i cant wrap my head around the idea of a sprinting mechanic. that sounds absolutely awful in every way. i dont want to hold shift through hours of farming and questing
as for stagger what happens when the bow/musket/staff player uses that against you, a melee heavy player?
ive said this a couple times already, the CC in this game is incredibly weak. like ONE second stuns… useless outside of trying to get a quick backstab in.
on top of that they arent even real stuns lol, they are sleeps. damage = canceled.
general lack of slows, lack of healing reductions ect.
hatchet as a secondary IS an ok option for melee players here tho.
now… lets be clear here, an axe player in heavy armor should not be able to just stay on top of a ranged player in light gear.
you dont get alll that defense, AOE, grit, disrupt AND be as fast as the players wearing paper bags.
that would be bullshit.
as for pvp scaling, plenty of videos of level 40’s absolutely jacking level 60’s. its an attempt at balance in open world pvp (something that wow, for example, does horrendously) and provides more opportunity for combat
Please make sure to always allow the option to run away. I only do PvP to get the massive faction rewards. I hate pvp and will always run but so far have always died because the attacker is 20 levels above me and using a root or stun skill. Completely unfair in my opinion. I’m using light armor and triggering berserk to run faster.
Just to comment on gap closers, they are actually trash if your opponent is running. Run next to someone with a great axe and then charge, by the time you are done being stuck in mud with the long animation at the end they are right next to you again. You aren’t gap closing anythung unless they want to be in the fight, at least with this ability.
