Let me start by saying, New World Forums CM’s, you’re the true MVPs. I can see that not everyone realizes you’re hear to relay information and do damage control. At least I understand you act a our voice and you are much appreciated.
I created this thread to point out current issues (that I feel are the biggest) and possible fixes. This thread is not to debate or argue but to put our heads together and form a solution other than “FIX YOUR GAME, REEEEEEE”
Issue: Armor and Damage Scaling
Possible Resolution: Completely remove PVP scaling and increase rewards to lower levels that actively PVP.
Example: Give more tokens to lower level PVPers completing quests. This will encourage low levels to group up to run pvp missions. Granted they would potentially be destroyed by lvl 60s BUT, the risk would have to be worth the reward. Maybe even increase the xp bonus as well. I believe this would also increase the chance of having open world wars occur as well as fix the somewhat “broken” math behind the scaling.
Lets say a group of 5-10 lvl 30s is rolling around doing pvp missions and come across a few lvl 60s, there is still a good chance 5-10 lvl 30s can roll through a few lvl 60s due to sheer man power and because the game combat is designed to be skill based.
Possible issues with this: Territories being thrown into conflict easily by mass groups of low levels. However a group of lvl 60s could band together to stop this push pretty easily if they are paying attention. Lvl 60 vs Lvl 60 would remain as is at a lvl playing field.
Issue: Invulnerability
Possible Resolution: Move client sided properties to server sided properties. Many games that use client side properties are often exploited time and time again. You give someone an inch they take a mile. (Quickfix) Force the game to be played in full screen until a perm fix can be applied. In this day and age, most PCs should be able to handle this.
Issue: AOE tick causing mass healing or mass damage/reapplying the damage or healing effect
Possible Resolution: Remove the healing/dps effects from being reapplied before the timer runs outs on the effect OR effectively put a cooldown on the healing tick or damage tick
Issue: Lag In Wars Caused By AOE spam
Possible Resolution: I’m no expert in game coding but from my experience in other games, the issue to my knowledge, was caused by particle density of the visual effect when MANY of the same spell are cast. The fix would be possibly rethink the actual look of the spell or optimize the war servers in a way where it doesn’t happen
Issue: Killed in Wars while In Fort (attacking side)
Possible Resolution: Make it so AOE abilities so they can not be cast into the attacking fort while outside the wall.
Example: In the wars I’ve been in while attacking, the defending fraction will push up to the gates of the attackers fort and start casting fire staff and ice gauntlet aoe spells over the wall. This causes players that are respawning and waiting for their team before exiting the fort to take damage and exit the fort while hurt or force them to use healing spells, pots etc…
All in all. I’m no game dev, I’m a dedicated gamer and idea man. If you choose to add to this thread please follow my lead of being calm headed and use the formatting I used. Hopefully, these ideas may get passed along and we will see changes.
