Salvaged crafted items give better items in return

  • What is your character name in New World: Naldrek
  • What server/world did you experience your issue on: Irkalla
  • Describe the issue you are experiencing: I crafted some Starmetal Life Staves. It let me use lower tier ingots. I used iron ingots. I then proceeded to salvage all of my staves and in return they gave me starmetal ingots. Basically, I transformed the materials needed to craft the staff into starmetal ingots.
  • Is this a bug or an exploit: exploit.
  • (if a bug) How did the issue effect your gameplay:
  • (if a bug) Were you able to recover from the issue:
  • (if a bug) Please include a screenshot or video of the issue that you have experienced:
  • What are the steps to reproduce the issue as you experienced: craft a Starmetal Life Staff, salvage.

I’m not quite sure if this is a good return to the point of being exploitable, as the recipe forces you to use 8 Wyrdwood Planks (along with 4 Coarse Leathers, 6 Life Motes and 5 Iron Ingots). This is like an unofficial material transformer. Based on that, I’m not sure if this is intended, is a bug (meaning, the return is so low against used materials, that it isn’t exploitable) or an exploit.

Would love some clarification here @Luxendra, thanks!

Found the same thing yesterday. Just feels weird:

Wyrdwood planks are a lot easier to farm than starmetal ingots so I wouldn’t complain if this was intended, but then the name should be changed to “Wyrdwood Life Staff”.

In my opinion it is exploitable. Iron is so hard to come by compared too all the other ingredients that its worth it to keep crafting those (and most likely eventually Orichalcum Life Staves) for higher tier ingots.

This was the case with spears early on as well and was fixed so I am sure it’s not intended.
