We do the same thing and drop rates are so atrocious that you’re lucky to pull enough corrupted shards to pull 1 leg shard after an hour of portals. So you’re looking at 3ish hours of portals per week for your laz orb. 6 hours for gen. 9 hours a week to max your orb crafts, then finding 4 other people who also have the free time to do the same. These numbers an an estimate because your drop rate could be luckier which shaves an hour or so off that number OR worse and it takes longer.
Just think about all the fun things or other parts of the game you could be doing besides portals. A 5 orb rotation takes about 17 mins for gen/average so less than an hour and a half worth of content for the time investment in a game system people would rather not do. It’s not fun for many people and is forced content to enjoy features of the game they clearly want you to play. Aka mutators coming. Dungeons shouldn’t be time gated behind unfun gameplay.
Hi @Willard, thank you for taking the time to read and respond. I know it’s frustrating for both sides so I appreciate you actually investing in what players have to say in spite of it.
A big part of the frustration is that those of us who actually have the concussion ultimate incorporated into our build were operating under good faith. I realize it’s anecdotal, but for me at least, especially as a predominantly PvE player, bow dps did not / does not feel out of line, in either group or solo settings. It remains difficult to land head shots as it is.
Even a slight reduction in the nerf, to as you say 15 or 10%, is still a significant nerf in terms of damage. With the correction to the jump exploit (which I never used, was not even aware of until I read of it on the forums, and I am frankly glad you corrected so as to even out the playing field for the PvPers), the concussion ultimate is still limited to head shots and with the chaos of moving NPCs, let alone other players, that ultimate still feels quite limited in scope and narrow in application, for little payoff.
Maybe my suggestion makes it too easy, and technically it may not even be feasible. But it feels punitive, rather than corrective, with the fix to a bug that some players exploited, and now this potential nerf to bow users’ dps.
I’d certainly want it to be less – 7%, honestly. You could also significantly reduce the time it takes to nock a full heavy draw shot. I am talking cutting that time in half from the 2 second or so draw to 1 second. Maybe incorporate that reduced full heavy draw shot time into the ultimate itself? Another thing I notice is we are locked into the animation itself and can’t shoot or use an ability for a certain period, which also limits mobility. Furthermore, the offset for aiming down sight (ADS) is so poorly / incorrectly implemented we can’t even lead shots to compensate for the rapid movements of targets.
The bow is meant to hit hard, considering how difficult it is to land head shots and our need to aim carefully and loose. It is not a near instantaneous hit scan shot like musket. It feels like this is being done because of PvPers complaining, and rather than looking at melee users’ complaints and ability to close in on bows, we are getting nerfed to compensate – which is the wrong tact to take and will further push players away from your game. Why not look at buffing up the deficiencies of other weapons (I guess melee, since they are complaining the loudest) instead?
Anyways, sorry for the long winded reply. As you can see, it’s a sore spot for me and others! I’d definitely encourage other exclusively bow using players to chime in here, and help Willard out guys. Most especially those who actually have concussion shot in your build, as I do. Save our weapon!
P.S. would it be possible to break this out into a separate, distinct discussion for bow users? Or at least move your post and my response to an appropriate bow thread? I’d really hate for this to get lost in here, and not get other bow users’ important feedback.
I would just like to briefly (respectfully) respond to this, as I think there may be a bit of a problem with the implication:
There may be many fewer complaints overall, but that does not make it representative of satisfaction or even acceptance of the current system by the majority of the player base.
You need to look at far more metrics than just the number of complaints, because although something like the orb system may not be satisfying to engage in, it is far from the type of game breaking issues regarded in most complaints on here. Dungeons are far from required or necessary to progress and, due to the large grind and cost to acquire access, it is far from the most accessible and efficient way to do so (especially when I imagine the majority of the player base is not near the 590 GS mark currently, which is when dungeons become worth it for more than a few expertise bumps.) Complaints are more likely to be centered on things that the players are actively and constantly dealing with.
I’d be more curious about the metrics of how many people actually make orbs, how often are players actually running the dungeons and how many players are running the dungeons and arenas AT ALL. What I am saying, is that many players may just be ignoring the system mostly or in entirety because it isn’t a good system and the ones that are complaining are those that REALLY like and want dungeon content.
As a personal example (although anecdotal,) I haven’t really personally commented on or complained about the issue much at all with the exception of one very recent post (most of my complaints are in regards to the desync, tracking, balancing, bots and cheating issues because these greatly and disproportionately affect my playtime.) However, that doesn’t mean I am.okay with the system in the slightest. Of the endgame dungeons/arena, I have run Genesis only one time and the Arena in Reekwater once (and I have never used even one of my free quest orbs to do so.) I have never done Lazarus or the Edengrove arena after just reaching 720 hours of game time.
The reason is; I just ignore the system entirely because of how prohibitive obtaining the orbs feel and using my own orbs prior to reaching near 590 GS in everything feels like a waste. So I just don’t pay attention to them. Not because I don’t like running dungeons, but the time+cost/benefit ratio feels exceptionally poor.
Concisely: I wonder how many people don’t complain about the orb system because they, like me, just consider it not worth engaging with and therefore just ignore it altogether.
they only not complaining because they making 3k gold off and entry it sad i only done 1 laz and 1 gen and i don’t have 5k gold to make 1 key and don’t have time to waiste trying to farm motes against bot or other player because their not enough nodes for 2000 people on the server to farm motes effectively that they don’t have to spend hours trying to get 1 key when they are trying to level something like armoring they just wont can not do it if u don’t play the trade market ( i hate it ) basicallt no money being made on tip of all the game that being broken on logoff
Consider it done @Willard, and certainly thank you too for reading through and responding. I certainly hope fellow bow users chime in with thoughtful, constructive responses and feedback. Please don’t destroy our weapon of choice!
