I think that with ags chosing seasons as model for the game is opportunity to make game better and more interesting. Freedom they get when it comes to creating content is unmached by any other model. But what i feel its also chance for ags to fix few major game problem:
- you can buy top gear out of market (gold sellers problem)
- there is no reason to do any pve (current or future) content when you are bis - events, new dungeons, raids - wont mater
- there is no way to get good or bis pvp gear by playng only pvp
- it takes ages to shift meta. and its bad couse if players do feel current state of meta is bad, they leave game
So does anyone is missing reason to go dungeon with hope of droping Lazaurs bow or any other item that was BIS in that given moment? Are we disapointed when we open OPR cache and its all focus while we play str bruiser?
I think now ags will have chance to address and fix all this issues.
Don’t know if you recall but there are schematics in game. They do allow to craft very specific legendary item (all perks locked). But to craft you need schematic, crafting skill and very specific item like this one: Etched Handguard - Item - New World Database
So what ags should think about imho.

Inform players
When new season comes tell players what will be changed in next season regarding gear. Give us headsup and never change to many things. Like if you would told us you want to nerf GA/WH (not many was expecting this) and you want to make fortification weaker than it is now. It woul allow us to plan ahead. And try not to destroy whole builds. Only parts of them maybe? Just rework armor in given season or jewerly or anything you think should be reworked. If nothing to rework - do it just to move meta. Rework some perks or add new perks. Shake a meta. -
BIS items
I think we have to remove ability to craft BIS items. And im saying this as player with all crafting skills maxed out.
Players should be able to use schematics (bip) that allows to craft BIS in given season. Schematics for pve items should be droped in dungeons and schematics for pvp droped from OPR/War/Arena chests.
But since it is luck based allow us to buy them from faction vendor. Like you did with dungeon items where if you are super unlucky for long time you can use materia to craft item.
Schematics and items crafter from them are bind to player.
Also some pvp schamtics should be obtainable only by new game content like world bosses, raids. And if pvp player dont want to play any pve. He will have to wait for 30 days or so. After this 30 days you can put that new schematic to OPR and other chest loot tables.
- Crafting
We have to keep crafting alive. Without it we have no economy, no game. So to keep it alive it still has to be usefull. I think crafting should allow us to get almost BIS items. By almost i understand like 5% differnce ± between items.
Example:
BIS: resilient, freedom, elemental aversion - armor piece
Craftable: resilient, elemental aversion, refreshing/weaponm perk
In season that would introduce freedom as new perk. And utill next season freedom should be a mod that sure can drop - but is bip. And its best case scenario. If not, then only way to get item with that perk are new schematics.
And with next season we allow crafters to get that freeom mod and craft normaly using it. Only current season new mods are restricted from being used in crafting.
This changes and approach would keep game: fresh, interesting and allow to shake meta. While also being rewarding. RNG would be still there. But moment you drop/get that schematic you were hoping for, you are done. You have good day.
