That controversy is already there. No matter what they add if they have to pay for it people will cry.
I don’t think umbrals are in any way P2W and that is 625 is the new starting point to even be able to really do anything in pvp.
People don’t run lower mutations, and guess what you need to be 625 to run m10s it’s nothing but a content lock.
I am ALL for catch up mechanics for new players. I wouldn’t mind if the lvl100 season track reward was a full perfect 2 perk pvp set with enough umbrals to upgrade it to 625.
It would be pay to win. It would be pay to play because entry level gear under 625 can’t do anything in OPR or arena currently they just will get farmed.
Give more people access to getting into pvp in this game itll be much healthier for the overall state and life of new world.
This is what I’m saying. The people who need umbral shards are the people without access to m10 and giving a ton of shards in the pass wouldn’t be looked at as p2w by anyone who isn’t new, because giving someone umbral shards just lets them upgrade gear, it isn’t giving them BiS gear. Considering it’s a season pass, they missed the mark big as new and returning players would have greatly benefited from a season pass with 10,000 to 50,000 shards in it.
9,200 a day from gypsum orbs, if you’re 625 in every category. New and returning players won’t have this luxury, they’ll get half of that, for 4,600 / day.
You can burn 5 infused orbs per day, which for most new and returning players would be 1,000 total umbral shards, but most new/returning players won’t be able to afford the insanely high cost of crafting infused orbs.
New/returning players realistically will be lucky to pull 5,000 umbrals per day from gypsum orbs. That means 20 days of umbral shards to upgrade just one gear set to 625.
If we include the other avenues of getting shards, that’s still 6,000 at max / day for most new/returning players and that’s if they spend 8+ hours every single day in the game. This will still take 17 days for just one set to upgrade.
The season pass was an opportunity to bring back players who weren’t able to keep up with the grind or help new players, and it did neither. The rewards on both the free and premium tracks are very clearly aimed at veterans who are already 625. Missed, easy opportunity to grow the playerbase with seasons.
To build just one Ancient, Corrupted, Angry Earth, Lost, Human, and PvP sets (6 sets) would take 95 days of 8+ hours every day for a new or returning player to catch up. And that’s just for one build for each dungeon type, and one build for PvP. This is why new and returning players come back for a few days or a few weeks and then quit again. The grind is unrealistic.
This is why they need cross realm Expeditions asap and to remove the number of times you can do mutations or at least for lower ones. Keep the 25 on m9 and m10. I know they are working on cross realm stuff but they only said it will be for OPR to start. IMO they need it for both like yesterday.
Id understand it if you are a Pvp only player but why complain about too less Umbralshards if you are a PvE Player? You just cut the content for yourself by buying Umbralshards. Why do you want to play M10 if you cant beat m5?
I agree, the grind in this game is worse then a lot of pay to advance Korean MMOs. Because unlike those Korean MMOs, New World doesn’t have any PvP modes for low geared players. So low geared players are expected to grind for over 1,000 hours in a sparsely populated game drastically increasing the hours one needs to stay online. Or they are expected to illegally buy services from RMT vendors and risk their accounts later on.
To simply put it New World has little to no chance to retain new or returning low geared PvPers. Because it is more grindy than pay to advance Korean MMOs for F2Pers. That’s before we even add in the other issues with New World that AGS refuse to fix. Like how bad the customization options for player characters. Like how bad the balance is in New World. Like how long it takes people to find PvP and PvE groups in New World on most servers throughout most of the day. Those are actually serious issues that need to be addressed and fixed.
Yeah, imo it should be enough to upgrade 2x weapons and 5x armor pieces with it per season. But don’t take more reward slots instead of something else! That’s not what we want
This is a bad take. In WoW you wouldn’t have to wait 4+ hours to find a group to do dungeons or PvP on any server. However in New World that is the case. Which means that the servers of New World don’t have enough population to allow for people to clear content and progress. Which means yes, it’s a game that don’t have the required number of players to be playable.
Unless of course you have no drive to be successful in PvP or endgame PvE content. At that case just have fun roleplaying with your bastardized Rock Band and just spamming interact on nodes not harvested by bots and RMT vendors.
To say this game does not have severe abnormal population crisis is delusional.
@Fearless It only takes hours to find groups for lower mutation levels and that’s a sign of poor design, not a sign of unhealthy server life. With the 25 mutation limit, it obviously makes sense that people only want to do m10. That’s on AGS. However, you and OP have something in common and that is you are not playing a paladin which would solve all of your current issues with the game.
Nah, I’ve solved my issue with dead game not being popular enough for me to get the content needed to progress. It’s the same solution that over 95% of the people who brought New World came up with before. Works great and now I can get On-Demand largescale, smallscale, ranked, and unranked PvP and PvE at any time of the day, without having to wait an insane amount of time.
I thought there were only two ways for players who don’t have m10s on farm (and thus 625 sets already) to get there?
Either farm daily gypsum and wt’s to get one set to 625 in about 20 days
Buy gold and then buy shards.
Option #2 seems to be extremely popular, shard selling has never been more aggressive or more popular given that the spam is all you can see in recruitment if you don’t block the dozens of active sellers.
Rewards could be improved on the free track. I also advocate PvP track be upgraded as well. The difference between one M10 genesis and anything else is so crazy.
They pay track is terrible and I think needs a huge rework. These chests feel so lazy. Literally I would trade 50 chests for a spring time housing pet in the premium track.
I currently have 5 pvp sets in my gear slot. 2 more sets in storage I haven’t put together fully yet and then my 2 luck sets (one melee one mage). This is the main reason I don’t bother with Mutations as well. I don’t want to deal with all the pve sets on top of it.
