Hey, i would like to ask You why, selling or buying things in game for real money is not allowed.
We paid real money for the product, which is just a tool which allows Us to create things in game world. We do not get character with max level, with max possible items etc, all We getting is an access to the tool which is a game client. We as the buyers are the players who creating our character, since the first moment We are the one who put his real life time in to leveling it, in to gathering materials in game, in to farming expeditions etc etc. So why We can not do whatever We want with the things we produced?
Anyone could explain me that? Why my character is not mine? Is that right and fair?
/Edit
To avoid more usless posts, you have my answer there, i am not defending RMT, do not represent any seller and didn’t said in my message, that i would like to see it. Just want to hear other people opinion to understand it better, why my character do not belong to me.
It incentivizes botters and scammers who will inundate the game unregulated and tank the economy making your own plan of selling stuff pretty moot since nothing you have will retain its value in said market,
Amazon doesn’t make money from it. It’s similar to asking “hey, why can’t I walk into an amusement park and sell pictures I take of people?” You don’t own the park, you just paid for admission to enter it. It doesn’t entitle you to set up shop to sell things related to your park experience and I’m sure you would be immediately kicked out/banned.
Not most - this is more a western thing about the evils of “Pay to win”. It is on the otherhand very acceptable in Chinese, Korean and other cultures to have pay to win mechanics and appreciate them.
Makes an unfair advantage. Not sure why you would even have to ask why RMT would be illegal or unfair but…
Its an MMO. It takes time to grind and live in the world how its supposed to be. If you’re allowed to swipe your card, legally, and Catch up to everyone else grinding that is called Pay To Win.
If you want stuff like that there are plenty of other MMOs.
A sense of entitlement doesn’t go far in games like this. Maybe just find something else to grind. Your character is yours to do whatever you want with but you still have to follow rules.
Just like in real life there are consequences and repercussions for every action you make.
PLEASE/…dont let coin and money or gold sellers take over the game. Resist the influence of non-MMORPG gamers. People who advocate for real money transactions for coins have other motives than true, fun gameplay.
Keep it the way it is. Fair, equitable. Stop whining and get in there and figure out your way of making coins, other than buying them with real-life money.
There were several companies who grabbed towns right away buy buying the 100k necessary. Some were even charging via paypal to join their group, and got so popular they exceeded the 100 player limit and had to form secondary companies.
They should get the data from large gold transfers (single and consecutive) and then ban the accounts involved. Opened a chat with someone standing in starter gear in the middle of town and got “Please put in received your code for consideration of purchase” . Grrr…
Because then the game will be plagued with those damn gold seller bots that are already in game right now. Dealing with that should take a high priority. Also, it opens the door to all kinds of scams. Not a good idea at all.
I mean, If you(and your potential customers) really really really really really want to buy and sell stuff, not even Jesus himself can stop you. Just saying…
Did i say i want? I gave the question to understand better why is this not allowed, and why my character do not belong to me. Learn to read with understanding I know my english isn’t the best, but i think it was clready said.
Whales will ruin any mmo. The company has one of two choices, forbid any goldselling or join in on the p2w and that’s when you lose a big part of the playerbase. They will have to cater to whales, by virtue of them paying the most. You will have extremely inexperienced but extremely geared players expecting you to have the same amount of gear just to run a dungeon, because they lack any perspective due to the fact that they skipped most of the progression by swiping their card. It happened in other mmos. Personally, I would like for whales to be content with buying every skin if they really want to, but to stay away from buying gold or gear.
To anyone who might want to say “Just don’t play with whales”, please understand, this game is more of a collaborative effort than other mmos I have played and I would like it to not be focused on people who would pay for progress than actually play the game. For bigger PVP content, you have to play with other people and those people will often be leaders of clans or “higher-ups” in said clans. Collaboration in PVP and PVE is inevitable for certain content and I would rather have someone who has done their fair share of pvp lead a war effort than someone who basically bought their levels and gear (looking at some streamers doing the crafting townboard quests with “some” help from their audience for example).
Are you a South American gold farmer or something? I feel for those guys. Shits bad over there, and I’ve seen the videos on how some of them survive on selling runescape gold, but hopefully that never becomes a problem in this game.
Because it is not yours to sell. You purchased a licence to access the software (game), but you do not ‘own’ it per say. You don’t own the account you play on, nor any virtual currencies or assets associated with it. All intellectual property (including the software) remains owned by the company, and you haven’t purchased any share of ownership in that - you’ve only paid to access it.
So while you may put in your time and your effort into the game on the account that you play on, at the end of the day you don’t have any legal grounds to sell any of it.
You do not own the game, you bought a license to run the client and connect to the servers. You do not “own” anything you build or craft in game in real life, you have no right to it as far as monetizing it.
RMT is what destroys games. RMT is what shoves people into sweatshops for next to no pay and enriches a select few.
RMT is bad, it must never, ever be allowed. It must be killed… with fire…
