In fairness, there has been a lot of hype around the new content of Brimstone Sands and lots of people are coming back to the game as a result of advertising, stream content and so forth.
Whilst they probably expected numbers to increase, it’s hard to maintain servers on the “off” chance people come back. The servers needed merges because there was to many at 50 - 100 players. Now they can add more as needed, but once the hype cools down, the PTR has opened Brimstone, they may lose those they gain right now and we’ll end up back at square one.
It’s a fickle process for sure, but @Kay and the team, will be watching the numbers closely.

Same boat here, i came back to game after a year and my server was full…I had to wait in queue for world transfer and xD now that i made it waitting maintenance
In all fairness to me as a customer: I do not see why I should be required to constantly understand their point of view. This isnt some kind of social club where we all chip in when we can, this is a business and they are not providing the expected service, and have not been since the beginning.
I dont care about the PvE, PvP debates, rage about different weapons and the like, I just want to be able to come back home from work and login when my kid is in bed. If I have to wait for an hour to get in because they have both problematic server technology and not enough servers, then the likelihood that I dont get to play much and will leave is pretty damn high.
This isnt the early days of MMORPGs anymore. They need to understand that we have a lot of choices and arent all “aw-shucks, they will get it one of these days”. Instead this game has shown from the beginning that NONE of the lessons learned these past three decades have been respected. Instead they act like a little indie studio that completely reinvents the wheel for every damn issue we have in this game.

My honest advice is to visit New World - Support | Amazon Games - open a ticket, voice your concerns and hopefully, someone more qualified to answer, will help you.

Question - did you transfer off of your server with a queue onto one of the new ones?
Yes, the ‘damned if they do, damned if they don’t’ thing doesn’t seem to change.
AGS is in a Kobayashi Maru loop as far as severs and populations are concerned.
If the pop dips people post about needing merges. They merge and other people post complaints about being forced off their fun tiny little servers or having their community destroyed by a merge.
The game gets a player bump and people start posting for new servers because of queues. They add new servers to address queues and people start demanding to be able to play with their friends after high pop servers get locked to push people to the new servers…and people who won’t transfer still bitch about the queues.
At launch people complained about queues and more than twice the number of servers came online in a day. As soon as pops dipped people started complaining about dead servers. Merges happened…rinse and repeat.
I dont care about any of this as a returner and no other returner cares, it all boils down to one thing in the eyes of someone who came back after a year: Nothing changed.
Yeah i obviously know things have changed, i am following the game even when not playing, i am just saying what returners and new players see, the internal struggles of a multi billion company does not concern me or anyone else, what concerns us is to finally manage to play the product we paid for.

We are looking into what happened to Fae. For now it’s back up, but the investigation continues.
