And even if they get queues there needs to be a middle ground where the queues are low before locking the servers and as soon as they drop off which is almost instantly they open the server again.
Itβs not about people moaning itβs about finding a good solution to a clearly obvious bad system.
No, early evening/afternoon on a Tuesday there are no queues. So in your opinion they should be unlocked right now and then on Saturday when there are 2,000 people in a queue youβll be happy to tell all 2,000 of them whatβ¦exactly?
This is such a narrow minded opnionβ¦ so because the game is finally succesfull we are going to kick out people who are playing from release out of there server. They are several options to solve this ββproblemββ biggers servers, or multiple layers. But i think in the case of @Heatherr he is playing with friends and probably it will solve itself as in that someone else take a free transfer if the queues are to bigβ¦
It CANT be that you threat old players like this, you need them or do you want to go back to empty expeditions because the lack of players?

Bigger servers, past 2500 (and even past 2000) servers become resource deserts. Thatβs fine for people using the game as a lobby for instanced PvP but not for anyone else.
Layers, who owns the territories? The guys on Barri Layer 5, Barri Layer 3, Barri Layer 1? How do you manage territory pushes? Thatβs ignoring the elephant in the room; that the gameβs code base wasnβt developed to do it.
Please donβt act like solutions to the problem are simple, theyβre not.
This is idiotic. I just bought NW for a friend to join the game, but they canβt play with me cuz my server is locked. I had no idea this was still such a massive problem. Every day this game gives me a new reason to not play. Just bad decision making by devs over and over and over. So now I am faced with the same dumb problem as since launch??? Transfer server just to be able to play with friends. A year later and still the same problems. Horrible devs. Horrible management. Itβs almost like these guys actually have no experience running a game.
Locked Servers are dumb across the board. WoW Classic did it recently, and it made some sense for a very limited time (like a couple weeks) but to just leave them locked long term prevents people from playing with their friends.
You canβt expect a person in a guild with a bunch of guild friends to transfer to another server so they can play with a different friend who may or may not stick around long termβ¦ so you are actually stopping people from playing the game AT ALL by keeping servers locked long term.
I would suggest locking them for up to 2 weeks at a time if you really feel locks are needed, and then open them up for like 2-3 days minimum before locking them again. This way people who really will only play if they can get into a specific server have an option, and the majority of people will still be pushed somewhere else to play.
If they removed you itβs because you spent 6 months away from the game. I think itβs ok to call you and anyone else who did that an inactive player and make room on those servers for people who want to play while giving you the option to have your character moved to a less populated server and transfer back into your old server if room opens up and it unlocks.
Server locks are there for a reason. You might not been here at release and early on. But ask your self, what is most bad for the game? Server lock or almost endless queues?
We all can understand the need and the problem with server lock but its locked for a reason.
AGS need to make it possible to transfer without entering the game. From main meny on the new world site.
You can βselectβ a server before you login with a character if it was removed from a server (2 of my 4 characters were without servers a few days ago when I came to check things out).
The core problem is not about whether you can move to a server. Itβs about playing with your friends who are also playing with their friends who are also playing with their friends.
Itβs not a viable solution that a player returns to his game and his friends, plus the friends of his friends all have to transfer so they can play together againβ¦ it goes layers deep.
Donβt get me wrongβ¦I understand the need for temporary locks to push players who have no skin in the game onto a new server, but there needs to be a way for exceptions so people arenβt completely locked out of playing with friendsβ¦
Exactly, Iβll wait maybe 2-3 more days then Iβm done with New World, if I canβt play with my friends. Approx. 10 of us are playing together in every game and 3 of us left out as character creation was closed on Apophis. Canβt believe they did this again as we were separated last year as well for a long time before migration. Iβll wonβt play on separate server again, that is for sure.

Server locks definitelly. I would wait a few hours so I can play with my friends then locked out for good.
