thats not actually a bad idea as far as i can tell with the fresh server merge cant see to many issues with that both sides would lose equally and most resources would stay in loop cause all the TP items were but back in storage.
Yup, this is what I initially wanted to happen. Although quite how it would have worked given all of the merging companies with enough gold to buy instantly⦠Wouldnāt really work either, theyād just rush to buy before someone else did and it could still result in just one company owning several and so on (itās not like the beginning of the game where no one has any gold). Itās probably better to just let them take over by war.
Honestly, in a few weeks, no one will care about this as servers settle.
Aināt it great!
Server merge is the least of the games issue ā from my POV its fine, I appreciate the merge because you know ā now I can actually see other players in the game world playing⦠thereās actually more than 1-2 players per HOUR that I pass now (not a joke, not an exaggeration btw, in some regions of the map that was accurate regularly before the merge).
My ire for this game are the numerous bugs, when you first roll a character and start playing it doesnāt seem that bad ā but for any new playersā¦just wait. This game is a bug fest.
Many quests donāt work. Quirky things will be marked as a quest item but youāll get no credit for it at times, but then you log out and go back and do the same thing and suddenly you got credit that time. Thatās just a sampling of the ones that annoy me the most. But yeah server merges as the OP explains ā¦thatās not the issue. Its all the bugs and the numerous annoying QoL things with this game , that while they donāt directly impact your characterās progression at all, they are highly annoying. Why do we have to be nagged about towns being invaded or going to war constantly (especially if we donāt care about that content?) ok we get it the town is going to war ā you want a cup cake. Get the banner out of my face. Every time I look at the map I have to click off those notices. Thatās silly but its annoying over repeated 2-3 hour play sessions over and over again.
again, no one is saying they shouldnt have a shot at taking the fight to folks, but its severely unbalanced with defending companies having zero chance of stopping the or slowing the influence push. they encouraged merging companies to not bother to get to know anyone, not bother to take the temp of the new server, not bother to enter the politics of the server they were coming too. they simply saidā¦āwere sorry you lost your territories, heres a ton of gold, go cause as much havoc as you can and screw playing the full game.ā there was no leash, no buffer of a day or two, no limit on how many wars one or two companies could start. it just plain wasnt thought through, but i shouldnt have expected anything less from this dev crew.
Another in the long line of taking the path of least resistance when AGS makes changes.
I noticed since my server had the largest population in our server set the merge started just as it was before the merge. Map all looked the same, this in it self was lazy, then they just buff the new comers so they can rampage our map. Ya, sounds like a solid plan.
They also totally ignored any other effects this can have on individuals, not just companies. What if I want to move with the changing map. Guess I just have to abandon that home and lose thousands just to spend more thousands.
Glad I found another game to play till some balance can settle in this game. If ever
You could always just turn your flag off and turn the toxic chat off. If all you want is PVE then donāt worry about the PVP stuff.
Like it seems as this thread keeps moving along you slightly change story. It went from OMG how dare AGS merge servers and force us to fight for our territory. Then it later became they are toxic, racist, server killers which was never mentioned in the OP. Now to well it was suppose to be a pve game with pvp elements.
You joined a faction for the benefits⦠now its time to stand up for your faction. This game is about āCarpe Deimā ⦠I love farmers and hunters and they both play vital roles in this game. Figure out who you are and play that route. If you dont enjoy it, I am sure their are other games out there but this one gives us CHANGES⦠and we like the ability to make a CHANGE.
Like a previous comment someone said⦠this all will settle out. Of course there will be a influx of money into the market. Your server went from 200 to 1300 players. 1100 players all spending 3-5k a day in gearing up, buying resources, or buying your items on the market⦠There is also the x3 the number of crafters, farmers, cookers, adventures, and AKEA furniture makers now⦠the benefits of more hands is enormous. Good time!
Itās just Darwinās laws asserting themselves. Small pop servers had less competition, so less competitive companies there. Merges with folks from larger servers (not even large ones, but larger than small pop) means better companies, and they outcompete easily, because the small pop server companies are not competitive in a Darwin sense outside their small ecosystem.
This was inevitable in server merges, but itās better than having small pop servers forever. Something always gets displaced when you merge, it canāt be avoided.
Your post is extremely difficult to read as you used one run on sentence with zero punctuation. I got a headache after about 7 words.
A WISE MAN ONCE SAID ā¦.ā MAD COS BADā I live by this motto, get stronger⦠not angrier.
Change is good, like being able to sell my house so I can move.
Odd how a game built on change as you say seemed to stay fairly the same once servers begun to settle. The mergers may be a fun change for some for a bit, but eventually most servers will settle and back to complaining on the forums for lack of content for many.
Yeah NW can allow one of two things to happen⦠they can let you pick up and move to another city (with some type of penalty⦠lost of money) or they can make it easier for dictators to fall. Which route is better for the game?
My money is on the 2nd optionā¦
Probably working as intended IF all other systems are also working as intended. For example the devs are saying War every 2 days max and defenders have the advantage (they claim 80% of the time defenders win).
Of course thereās invasions to downgrade everything, but thatās just a PvP penalty for people who just war for fun and donāt realize that real progress is made during peace time. Just like in the real world ā wars are just a resource sink that pulls resources away from progress.
So even when systems are working as intended, PvP is destroying servers.
Thatās why itās really better that players have zero influence over Settlements.
On a side note ā Winter event + Expertise + Server merges ⦠and Steamcharts shows game population is still falling.
@Luxendra @Lane @Zin_Ramu really, itās time the devs look at their underlying game systems instead of pushing new features hoping they will magically turn this game around. They wonāt. The underlying game needs to be fun. Itās not. Even when itās working as intended, itās not fun. Like Wars piled on top of Invasions Time gated tedious-to-get Tuning Orbs to access Expeditions. Etcetera.
What? Would you rather the situation was reversed and you had to run the faction lsps to start a war and lost your territory with the transfer and had to fight to win it back? War decs are cheap regardless.
You didnāt know how much you suck until you played with real people, hahahaha
No they actually could do both. Allow us to sell our homes, period. They can also adjust the mechanics of territory control a bit to avoid abuse or maps getting stagnate.
I prefer both, a long with a huge list of other much needed additions and fixes to make it a proper game.
I just want to point out pushing multiple territories into conflict within a few hours of each other is not uncommon and something my faction does on my server regularly. We get a bunch of companies to organize and decide who will declare on what before hand then sweep the zones one by one as a large group. It puts a lot of pressure on your opponents and expedites the whole process due to the large numbers.
Iāll repeat it for those in the back, this is how the game is supposed to work!
Lets make sure we do not lose sight here⦠AWS / NW made a game with PVP at the backbone (also survivalistic theme); later added PVE. The PVP is part of the PVE since it was there on day one. If you try to remove it⦠you would disrupt the dna of the game and the fan base. That being said, for the PVE only crowd, you can stick with it⦠but understand sometimes the imperial troops come knocking on your door and you have to leave your home on Coruscant for Tatooine. You can also just join the dark side, either way its a good story we can all agree
