Server Merges need to happen yesterday

Lately it has gotten to the point where some servers have so few players that there is essentially no economy. Nobody is buying anything on the market because there is nobody left on the servers to play the game and generate gold. I’m glad that I’m on a server with daily caps of about 150+ but I can only imagine the people stuck on servers with 40+ These merges need to happen soon. People that are stuck because they already used their free transfers are literally quitting the game because of this.

Rushed merges. What could possibly go wrong?

They need more transfer tokens in the interim then.

They shouldn’t have introduced new content and all the bullshit that came along with it when the servers themselves were already in such a shitty position.

They need to do something to alleviate these server issues, and they needed to do it yesterday.

40 players total on a server in a 100% driven community game in which you literally can’t do anything, not even craft due to stations tier. What could go wrong.

+1 to another wave of free Transfer Tokens for everyone (to be able to leave dead servers)

Cant believe they release the game without thoroughly tested the server capacity and merge feature. One of the biggest issue they have right now, and I think it is a little late to fix the damage.

If they could start merging servers safely, I’m pretty sure they would, but given the AGS track record so far, I think they would be wise to avoid making a bad situation worse.

A lot (and perhaps the majority) of servers now in need of merges, for example, are servers that were gutted as a result of transfer token mass migrations. A lot of those migrations left players stranded on servers that were fine when they transferred, but then became ghost towns as a result of overall attrition and other players who still had unused tokens transferring off the sinking ships.

From a player standpoint, it definitely sucks being stuck on dead servers, but given how ravaged New World already is by the Law of Unintended Consequences, I can’t blame AGS if they decide going forward that doing things right is more important than doing things fast.

YMMV.

Out of interest are you playing on a dead server at the moment?

For meany like my self it’s almost pointless playing at the moment. You can’t do anything due to population sizes.

I think I speak for all of the others like my self that we will take any problems with merging a server over the current state. Can’t be any worse then what it is now.

Since none of us knows in what condition the server merge technology currently is, how reliably it works or what kinds of problems using it prematurely would cause, we are not in a position to make informed decisions about when it should be used.

More to the point, it’s not our decision to make.

As players, wanting merges yesterday is our right, but running New World properly is AGS’s responsibility. As they should, they welcome our opinions and don’t want us to be unhappy, but whatever our opinions, whether we like it or not, server merges will begin only when they decide the time is right, and not a moment before.

That’s just my opinion, of course, but it does reflect the reality that AGS is running the show, not us.

you didn’t answer my question?

Imagine solving all the bugs the game has with a server merge.

There are a lot of questions you can ask about me that I won’t answer, because I’m not here to talk about me.

pretty sure you guys should let AGS take they’re time, from the patches we’ve seen. rushed breaks things… also AGS probably takes a little longer to communicate with the main company over server related changes.

The last merge test that happened on the PTR had the same problems that occured during the beta merge tests.

Unfortunately they don’t appear to be ready yet.
